Maybe the town should eventually try to put some defence on that side of the gate. They've got spies in their town already, and the gate has just opened
Maybe it wouldn't help them, though, because there is another way and they wouldn't be able to guard the whole border, not to mention regular weapons would fail against magic like Tierney's

The only thing that always boggled my mind after reading your whole story and seeing the comic version. If why no one ever recognized Lunastar as Luna just by the mark on her hips?

I guess most hardly notices the obvious things.
In Luna's case, she lives in a world where magic and magical creatures don't exist, who would ever thought Lunarstar could change to a winged unicorn. The thought of changing colors or forms wasn't even dreamed of in her home world.
