oh, yeah I make the difference clearer by drawing manticores with porcupine bodies and sphinxes with Egyptian Eye markings and Cleopatra hair...
Which is probably racist to sphinxes, stereotyping them like that.

I understand why though! I just did these guys pretty openly, and based on specific animals. So fainting goat fawn, tiger sphinx, and fluffy chicken harpy~

The tiger is why I assumed manticore. I found out from my brother who researches mythology practically for a living that the Manticore is based on an erlier creature who's name translated to "Man-Tiger". The manticore is literally just a sphinx with stripes.

Also I love specific animal variants of mythical creatures although I also love unique species interpretations like the sphinx someone drew where it was just a very large short-faced feline from paleolithic egypt and greece.

Anyway don't stop drawing the pokemon comic but when you're done with it or need a break from it I want more of these guys.
