Awwww, she is so cute.
I want to learn how to animate so bad.
I just don't have the money to go to school.
Is it possible to learn without school?

I'm definitely going to try and teach myself.
I have wanted to animate since I started drawing.
My mom refused to pay for me to go to school for animation and instead made me go to school for teaching.

Thanks so much. It's absolutely possible to learn to animate without going to school. It just takes a measured metric butt-load of dedication to get good at it. Going about teaching yourself animation is undeniably the HARD WAY of doing it, but it can be done. I mean, I did it. It wasn't easy, but dedication and perseverance is what did it. Getting the main principals down is actually the easy bit. Learning CONTROL, and timing is way harder and takes years of study, observation, and possibly a bit of tutelage to get. Anyone can make a character move on the screen, the art is in learning how to make it look good and convincing.

Do you have any advice on how to get started?
Like should I begin with a walk cycle?
What's a good beginners animation software I can get without breaking the bank?

One of the best ways to get started is to pick up a book or two on the subject of the basics of traditional animation. My highest recommendations are "The animators Survival Kit" - By Richard Williams , and
"The Nine Old Men: Lessons, Techniques, and Inspiration from Disney's Great Animators by Andreas Deja".
These books will teach you the principals of how GOOD animation works. The problem with most schools these days is that they will only teach you how to operate the software, and there is a BIG difference in knowing how to operate the software and knowing how to ANIMATE. Many young animators make the mistake of thinking that owning the right software, or photoshop brushes, or textures is what will make you a stronger artist/animator when that's not true at all. A truly skilled animator learns and practices the basic skills of animation regardless of what software they're using. Once you learn how to properly make a character move and have the principals down, you can produce animation in ANY software environment.

I'd want to say Pencil2D, but it's really glitchy with exporting in it's current build. FireAlpaca recently got animation functionality, and is also a free program, but I've had no experience with it, but I have some friends who say it works for them. Free art program Krita is also getting animation tools, so you might want to look into that.

Hhehehe.. No worries dude. I only just now realized that I did the "classic arm" for her and not the fancy new mostly white one. I guess it's because the older blue/silver/gold arm is the one that I'm more used to seeing.

One of the things I need to resign to, is finishing that drawing of CK and her.

Yeah, that's pretty understandable. Even though I'm guilty of many an unfinished project too, some drawings/projects need to be completed like the need to scratch a difficult to reach itch. So.... DO IT! LOL
