Description
So I’ve been having some crazy thoughts and want to throw them out to you guys for feedback and opinions. Hope that’s cool!I’m having the crazy notion of trying to publish a series of beautiful Shakespeare books on my own. I have to look into copyright and such (does anyone out there know this stuff? Shoot me an email!), but I miss working on those books and would love to start on them again.
Ideally I’d love to get a publisher on board (Nobrow or McSweeneys would be kick-ass!) but I don’t really have a direct connection (if you do and wouldn’t mind sharing, lemme know!). So maybe to start I would just do A Midsummer Night’s Dream - slimmed down to the play itself, printed illustrations, a few laser-cut illustrations somehow, and maybe simpler cover. Something special and hardback and more manageable.
Funding-wise it’d be tricky but could be worth it. Maybe a small Kickstarter filled with cut-paper goodness?
What do you think about all this?

Well I'm no expert on this, but I think copyright shouldn't be a problem. If an author is more than 70 years dead all his works become public and accessible to everyone.
I would definitely try kickstarter because you don't have to invest anything beforehand and I would pledge!
I really love the whole look of the rose - but does the knot the stem forms symbolize anything? is this a common symbol or something?

Thanks for letting me know! I figured that's the case with copyright but I'm gonna delve deeper before I do any final pieces.
And nah, the knot was just a quick sketch on a small piece of paper. Nothing symbolic in particular.
