BACKSTORY: Born into an aristocratic family, Yang Hao Jie initially enjoyed wealth and prosperity. However, after his family fell out of favor with the Longqing emperor under suspicion of sedition, his parents were imprisoned and Yang was exiled to Korea. During his exile, Yang was taken in by a Korean family who adopted and educated him, and later on he met a monk from Shaolin who taught him some powerful kung fu.

Years later, after the Wanli emperor ascended the throne in 1572, Yang's family was reinstated and so he returned home. In order to show his gratitude to the new emperor, Yang joined the Jin Yi Wei, who were the emperor's personal bodyguards and secret police. Because of his prodigious martial abilities, he quickly rose in rank after serving in defeating the Mongolian rebellions, and gained power and influence in the court. He also acquired a reputation for chivalry and virtue.

During the Imjin wars (1592-1598) between allied Chinese and Korean forces against invading Japanese armies, Yang was sent to the front lines to serve under General Li Rusong, where he fought directly against samurai led by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. After the allied forces successfully defended the peninsula from the invasion, Yang returned to China victorious, gaining more merit and praise from the generals.

In the time following the Imjin campaigns, Yang was sent to lead the Jin Yi Wei to escort an embassy to Japan for ensuring the continuation of peace. However, factions of court eunuchs and corrupt officials grew wary of Yang's influence in imperial affairs, and conspired against him. Accusing Yang of colluding with the Japanese, these factions forbade him from returning to China. While the Wanli emperor was not entirely convinced of their plot, he had no choice but to comply with the officials.

And so, after he successfully escorted the envoy to the capital city, Yang decided to join the SDL tournaments since he can't go back to China. Maybe if he can accomplish something great, the emperor will let him return.

WEAPONS: 9-ring broadsword, two-handed jian straight-sword, double daggers, crossbow, Ming-era musket, other various gunpowder weapons.

FIGHTING STYLE: Shaolin kung fu, Wudang Taijiquan, Jin Yi Wei sword forms, military manuals including the Wu Bei Zhi, learned the Korean sword style Jedok Geom during his time fighting the Imjin wars. Only uses guns against other people with guns.

SKILLS: Extremely fast while retaining power. Equally skilled in armed and unarmed combat. Focuses on building strength from low, solid stances. His sword skills are very practical and emphasize efficiency of movement. Taiji training allows him to effectively use opponents force against them, as well as use powerful strikes through internal energy. Specializes in the two-handed jian. Also, his experience in fighting the Japanese samurai gives him a great advantage in combat.

PERSONALITY: Usually quiet, carefree, and laid-back, but maintains a very serious and severe outlook when fighting. He is known for his upright personality and humility. He doesn't get angry very easily. Since he was exiled, he is no stranger to a life of poverty, and so he is very frugal and resents those who abuse wealth and power. Despite the reputation of the Jin Yi Wei for terror and cruelty, Yang is recognized by the common people and the court for his upright nature.

Awesome character. My character N. is also from China. He was a rouge soldier during the Ming dynasty who massacred his comrades in battle and escaped to Japan before he could be punished. o.o

well considering tekken to be the more serious of the two, plus your character's design is more fitting
