The evolution of the Chinese armoured infantryman from the days of the Shang dynasty right up to the twilight days of the Qing - with a major disclaimer that I've skipped over a lot of smaller dynasties, and what I've shown here is just a fraction of the bewildering variety of arms and armour in ancient, medieval, and early modern China.
It would be more useful to think of China as a world unto itself rather than a unified state when it comes to costume, arms and armour - even within the same dynasty there would be huge variations between northern and southern China, eastern and western, etc.
