Note: we're not entirely sure about Chinese shield usage prior to the 6th century Sui dynasty, since shields don't appear much in Chinese art till then.
3rd century BC: a mid to late Republican legionary (in chainmail shirt) versus a Qin warrior (based on the gear of the terracotta warriors)
1st century AD: a 'classic' Principate legionary versus a Han warrior (lamellar cuirass, and a beret-like cap covered in a cloth or leather cowl)
3rd century AD: a Crisis-era legionary (scale cuirass) versus a Three Kingdoms-era warrior (lamellar cuirass and helmet)
6th century AD: a Romano-Byzantine soldier versus a Sui warrior ('cord and plaque' cuirass made of leather or metal)

Great work with this! Two vast ancient empires such as these going toe-to-toe is always an interesting piece of alternate history.Β
