Description
Waldo, with his phylakardia safely behind his sternum, was excited to leave the Grove for the first time. A whole new colony! He’d get to see it with his own big, bespectacled eyes! All he had to do now was make some last few preparations - joining a guild, getting a new cane, buying some stuff, little things like that.
But then his phylakardia stung with a reminder - one of his ill friend, Mozzazola. So, before leaving the Den once and for all, Waldo decided to leave his friend some words. He couldn’t bear to ignore the poor guy.
He decided to write a letter at the last second:
Dear Mozzazola,
I do hope you’re alright back at the Grove. I am incredibly sorry that we weren’t able to go on that adventure with you. But my Phylakardia was vanishing fast, and I couldn’t wait to go on that expedition! And unfortunately, that meant leaving you behind.
Hopefully that’s not leaving you too distraught. And hopefully this “Kablooie” fellow doesn’t bother you too much. I did notice your drawn schematics for obstacle courses, and I do hope you keep making those. Maybe you could bring one of them into reality one day! Maybe I could even give one of them a try if you do!
To be honest, I’ve been curious about Deadman’s Cove ever since I ran into Mr. Suijin and asked him about it. All I know is that it’s full of water, and has a lot of aquatic plants. I better learn how to swim! I’m sure you know a lot about it since that’s where you came from, earlier this year.
Also, just in case you’re worried about me getting hurt or worse on this expedition - please don’t worry. I plan on joining the Adventurer’s Guild, and even as a fresh sprout I think I can at least learn some means of self-preservation from my fellow guild members.
And one last thing - please, get well soon. Not for my sake, but for yours.
Wish you were with me,
Wally
P.S. - I grew out of my cane, and now I need a new one! It’s perfectly kit-sized, so it’s yours now, in case it helps!
Neatly folding up the letter, he put it in an envelope and gave it, alongside his old cane, to Eeko to be given to Mozzazola. And with that, he was on his way.
