Great guess, however the spirtual idea is less used now, its more mechanical. (Which I know is werid consdiering something like this thing)

The latern does play its part, so stay tuned I suppose -_-

Uberwoot (heh, I made a new word) most fantastic job with the pencil work and perspective as always I like how you made the buildings a little "cluttered" towards the upper right hands side. Makes it more interesting.

I'm glad, as that's exactly what I was shooting for. However I still feel that the buildings are too bland. I'm really pushing to make everybuilding unique.

Jeremiah-the-kitsune In reply to foolyguy [2006-05-23 18:34:41 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, makign ordinary things like building unique can be difficult. I had a friend who was in technical drawing... what he'd do for inspiration is look ofr shapes that you wouldn't normally see as a building but making them plausible at the sametime. He spent alot of time studying buildings like the Space needle or that concert house in Sydney and learned how to use different shape while making them plausible according to what unual buildings actually exsist. Maybe that can help you a bit

Its a good thought, and I shall be sure to give it a try. Though my imagination will really be streached to its small capacity. -_-

O...M....Guhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
and I thought it couldnt get better... (actually I know you better than that- i just say that for exceeding all our thoughts and ideas)
And how do you prevent it from smearing? x_x; Personally I have problems with my pencil artwork always smearing on me even when its "safely" enclosed in my sketch pads

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

foolyguy In reply to jgirl13245 [2006-04-28 01:05:59 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately, I didn't really miss smearing, but with a few adjusted levels in photoshop, its harder to notice them : D

TO prevent smearing however here's what I and millions of others do. Its time consuming and takes extra planning, but you need to place something under your hand so that you rub on that surface instead of the one your drawing on.

While you can just use another sheet of paper, or a napkin etc. What will really work to your advantage is wax paper (since that dosn't smear your materail at all) or what some people have decided to use is a small panel of glass O.O. which prevents smearing even better than wax paper, and lets you still see what your doing under what's covered.

To prevent smearng all together however you need a literally rock steady hand, which can only be developed through practice practice practice.

If you want to know the photoshop techniques you can use to help hide smearing (that's hide not erase/prevent) ask me again, and I'll telly you about those as well

Thanks a mil, your comments mean so much to me.

no problem fooly- even if I only ever do Paint (and paintshop when I EVER figure out how to easily USE the thing) i'll still start everything from Pencils! go pencils! especially mechanical- goodness gracious they rule- only until the eraser wears out though x.x and I can never find good eraser refills!! Oh well..
I would be interested in ANY and ALL photoshop/paintshop/whatever techniques- goodness knows I should even try to use the software I hoard.

foolyguy In reply to jgirl13245 [2006-04-29 06:23:41 +0000 UTC]

I got a Tuff Stuff Eraser Mate which is like a mechanical pencil for erasers. These and similar models can be found at your local Wal-Mart. They rock and are a total lifesaver.

For some early photoshop techniques.

LAYERS

ONE: Copy the image and paste it onto a new layer. THEN>>>

OPTION A: To create a darker layer, change the layer in the LAYERS menu from "normal" to mulitply, this will create a more realistic sense of pencils as seen on your paper BEFORE scanning

OPTION B: Create a SCREEN layer which will light the grays in your pic reducing smear's

There are more you can do with the tools too, but I'll have to leave that for another day. BEST WISHES

YAY! MUST TRY.... later though- still have two classes for the day- English and German. Then I have a *short* ><; DDR fest with friends (blame parents- only gave me 30 min!!)

But I'll be home by 5 or so- I'll look through my old drawings and see which I'd want to grace with a scan. (or maybe the 3 newer ones in my sketchpad?)
THANKS MUCH!! And feel free to either wait until I get stuck again and ask around or whenever it's to your convienence write me more tips!

I working on it, but I want prints to be a little bit above these in quality. There are plenty of improvments this could use, like better architechual designs, and slightly cleaner pencils (the smudging was everywhere x_x )

Gah. . . Look at all those details. I love it!
