Description
A guide to manes. These are the common variations seen.
Traditional - Top Left;
The lack of a mane is a status symbol, used to identify tamed, working horses. Shaving down the mane also makes caring for the horse easier - one less bit of grooming and de-tangling.
Retired / Regrowth - Top Right;
Either through age, injury, or lack of time, the mane will grow back in. The forelock is often allowed to grow in longer than the rest when the horse is retired.
Feral - Bottom Left;
The natural state of the mane, most often seen in the feral horses that roam throughout the world. This mane style can also be found on horses that have escaped, or been forgotten about. This mane can also be seen on horses that are un-cared for.
Feral + Tag - Bottom Right;
Feral horses are routinely rounded up in small numbers, and some are tagged - deemed old enough to go out and be caught by those seeking a challenge. These are the only wild horses that can be captured and put through the taming process, it is illegal to capture those without tags.
