Description Watercolours on paper.

As with most of my paintings of this kind, I prefer to let people project whatever they may find in this than to say what it may mean to me.

I love it! I will attempt to articulate my reasons.

The red and pink on the sides make a warm/cool contrast like an icy drink on a warm day. The dark parts are also interesting; more on that later.

The red and blue things look like big pieces of yummy candy at first. They also look like two iconic elements of the human imagination. The left is a flower and the right is a water drop. (You can tell by the shapes on the inside that the left one is definitely a plant, and not fire. Plus, fire doesn't have that overall outline.) The way they are presented makes them look like characters which are enjoying each others' company.

The dark spots on the sides contrast with the rest of the painting, which actually enhances the effect. It's definitely something new I learned; usually people try to go for confluence of themes, but the contrast in this painting only makes the painting more cheery, by having something dreary to compare against.

The greenish gray thing in the middle looks interesting, but I don't really make anything of it.

Hope this makes sense. Also, I'd like to note that all of the things I wrote were things that I saw within a few seconds of looking at the piece; I wasn't actively looking for meaning or over-analyzing.

Thank you for the elaborate comment!

Originally, I just aimed to paint a heart and a tear. But you're right, the heart ended up looking like a flower, which I quite liked.

I think your analysis is quite right on. Contrast helps break the monotony of an image.

If you're curious about it, my idea when I was painting those abstract pieces was to create images that didn't "represent" something in our world, but were their own entities. (That's actually what Modernists did in their time, though I wasn't aware of that movement back then: opposition to mimesis and all.)

Thank you!

Gosh, now I'm even sorry to say that I don't like this one. But I suppose you won't punish me for that severly after your special tutorial... I found one painting I did enjoyed a lot --> The Trace

Well, that's pretty cool; and I'm sure you enjoy The Trace more than I do myself. But that's part of the mysteries of life. And that explains why I decided to post all my stuff, precisely because sometimes people like paintings I never thought much of. So it's all worth a try. Glad you enjoyed some abstract stuff.
