Ok, this got me going...I am not following most of the comment flow but I am speaking only in response to what I understand gromyko may be saying in regard to photorealism in art...I may be way off, but it stimulated me into a desire to contribute on the subject at hand...
If I take it as I understand it only from this writeup - then I will also bring my own 'technique' into the light for scrutiny. I have enough confidence in my works that I do not get blown over by a critique. After all beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And I do not insist exclusivity that barrs any other artist to work with whatever stirs them in the heart. Even for fun! I bring my own spirit into my works and attempt to embody the substance of the scene/subjects that enables life to project itself off the paper for the viewer to receive. A take it or a leave it kinda thing. Be swept by whatever art moves you. No steadfast rules is my thinking. Freedom of expression is my basis for whatever I develop regardless of it's beginning. Tell me please......who deems the self-grandeur of deciding what shall or shall not be included in the joy and passion of creating an artwork? In saying this, I also have my own sense of what makes one particular piece a 'may I say' stronger piece over another.... but I do not make the rules. Just hold a preference

I wont be entertaining his fans who would otherwise mob me or mock me...im an honorable man and theres nothing honorable on being a hippocrite...
this artwork is a typical "Kinkaid" like technical representation of an actually existing photgraph dubbed as the stock resource...it is compositionally well made, technically well designed and the artist is technically skilled, yet is technique only the basis of art? and if so what else is...the artists defends himself by stating that he chose this out of the unlimited number of other subjects out of pure fun...now will fun be a consistent defense against any critique that philosophically discourses the level of what art must be? if art made this way must be considered art at all then at least the artist must be able to share to us something than mere representational and illustrative prowess,,,havent we moved from the lessons that history have guided us? incidentally the artist though skilled had a temper, and this manifest in the way he defends his work...the critic never said directly that this work is ugly for ugliness and beauty is relative...yet the artist denounce the critic's work as ugly...how ironic and hippocritic considering we made up after a long debate on this subject...it seems to me the artists is as plastic as his creation
may photorealism be burned by surrealist light!!!

salamat! if you can paint well in digital media i don't see any reason para hindi ka makapinta nang maayos using traditional medium. ang kailangan lang ay tyaga at practice so that you can learn to control your medium of choice. ako naman, hindi ako marunong sa digital art.
