Yet another masterpiece
It is wonderful that even though her dress is a green, she still manages to pop against the beautiful background. It's wistful and has a sense of longing. Great job with the textures as well.

This was beautifully done! You captured the lighting very well; I thought it was a photograph until I saw the full view of the picture. The posing and the details capture the poignancy of the scene well, too.... Keep up the lovely work!

anyway .. the idea of what is filipino is "deconstructed"..(Derrida stuff) .. the name.Philippines is even foreign bcoz it is from King Philip of Spain... post colonialism.. all of us are sort of confused of who we are. ..we could rename the Philippines as "Maharlika Republic" (a novel of mine) .. being a Filipino is the sum of all our ancestors experiences and our generation too.. believing in all our national symbols and beliefs..lahat ng pambansang... national animal etc.. (including national bookstore heheh) .. hay naku gumawa na ako ng essay tungkol dito nung college.. nakalimutan ko na.. . maybe in a general view of a painting that depicts being Filipino most people would think is..like an Amorsolo or a Jose Blanco... but their paintings are also one sided.. showing all the positive and never the negatives.. you can forget that i say all of those.. what is important is that you are doing what your heart and mind likes to do.. and giving life to it in your paintings..

.. once in a while its okay to be making art like what everybody does..but sometimes we also need a step forward.. a sort of journey.. dont get me wrong.. you are an amazingly talented artist.

let me barge in here ivan...couldnt help but enter in the conversation with my friend prof yatoy here...
define pinoy you said, the context is that the choice of subject you mostly portray exclusively if not majorly includes stocks taken by western photographers using western models...the fact is that when defining the essence of what makes "pinoy" is a really indefinite question, its the same as asking what define mcdonals hamburger...we are just missing from you the "essence" of the filipino spirit, which is not to say to portray our women or men, philosophically speaking the essence of the filipino, a real abstract term could be defined by means of the artists personal experience of what he is as a filipino, say a forcemajeur the spark which differentiates you from western artists...the bravura of the filipino brush...but then you have a point, even luna who portrayed the elegant demonic spaniards of his time have been praised for using western methods in expressing himself...the problem is that the power of the creation, your creation at least have to had that force, that spirit which compels...now i dont want to criticize you for your choices as i donot want you to criticize my choice of subject, but the fact is that we are free to express ourselves in a way that it should reflect not as a filipino but as an artist, a human being, a special kind at that....races and nationalities must be erased...however there is still that spark which i am looking in your art...i much prefer your more imaginative works,than this mere photorealistic masterpiece, and i mean that in the positive way...
