Description from top to bottom
phases of making a folding fan
1. reed stripes, in this case they are at least 25cm long, then I cut them up in step2
2. you make thinner stripes, with a knife (and try not to cut your fingers off, who knows when you will need them )
3. use a buffer to shape it into the right width and make it smooth
4. then cut it into a shape, the tip should be pointy, and drill a hole into it, 2.5cms from the end

I don't know how to make folding fans proffesionally, but this method was good enough

I'm glad I could help

Evergreens are not that good, because they have resin in them.
You really need something flexible like reed or rattan, bamboo is not a must.

The problem is:
The spines have to be flexible, because they are very thin.
So if it's some kind of hard wood, the spines can break when you drill the holes at the end.

Maybe if you can find some soft wood... that could work. But using wood is much more work.

If you have more questions I'll try to help just wrie a note.

(Finland is great I'm from Hungary)

Then they are the best people to ask.
You're welcome.

Warm? Well, it snowed a bit yesterday and there's a biting cold wind. It's not really warm, but it's not Alaska either
