Description

Sunpaw felt her heart race as she looked around the clearing. The most brutal battle she had ever seen was taking place right in front of her; BlossomClan was facing the rogue Clan that called themselves 'RedClan' in a war for the camp and territory. Most of the cats were unrecognizable to Sunpaw, but one familiar brown coat caught her attention. "Twigstail!" she cried, dashing towards the tabby. "You're back!"
She expected a friendly greeting from the tom that had once been part of BlossomClan, but instead his gaze was hard and ice cold- she could barely recognize him. Before another word could leave her mouth the tom had her on the ground, biting into her shoulder roughly. She cried out in pain, swiping at him frantically.
Sunpaw managed to scramble away from Twigstail, but only for a moment before he came after her again. He gave chase and it was only a matter of time before her legs gave way under her and she collapsed in exhaustion, curling her tail around herself. She expected to feel his claws again but instead she sensed another cat there, looming over her. She opened one eye and was shocked when she saw Crowtail, a young warrior, standing over and protecting her.
Sunpaw took this opportunity to catch her breath and caught Twigstail's eye for a moment. His green eyes were no longer welcoming like the Newleaf leaves, and he was skinnier than she'd ever seen him. His gaze was one of anger and blood clung to his fur; Sunpaw could barely recognize the tom that was once her friend.
She had been so focused on observing Twigstail that she hadn't noticed the two toms speaking to one another.
"And you would protect her, why? From what I remember you two got along as well as a mouse did with an owl!" the brown tabby hissed, lashing his tail.
Crowtail's eyes narrowed. "It's my duty to protect my clanmates, no matter the situation or argument."
Twigstail scraped the ground with his claws. "I'm glad that I was exiled. I wouldn't want to be caught dead in a Clan like this. You're all as soft as kittypets!"
"You were a traitor from the start!" Crowtail countered, baring his teeth.
Sunpaw shut her eyes again, her wounds stinging as she sent a prayer to StarClan for the battle to end.
