Oh my god. This was so so fun and pushed me waaaayy out of my comfort zone. It took forever but honestly it was worth it to just explore all of these wonderful people’s styles and see the differences in them and the unique pieces of what makes them work. And yes I did this with mythic Tom cause people seem to really like him...

and before I get into it, PLEASE GO CHECK THESE PEOPLE OUT! This is just my own attempt at their styles and in reality they look much better than this! If you like this then you will adore their stuff!!

Styles used:

TheSunnyNerd

This one I feel like I got the closest to her actual style. She uses a lot more bright colors than me, and her style of shading is a lot lighter and has all these lil squiggly lines in it that were so fun to draw,,, also I did base this off of how she draws cpTom cause I couldn’t find a recent drawing from her of regular Tom

This was kinda difficult. She has a bit more of a realistic style than me with less crazy proportions, and she draws the eyes a lot smaller (I still made them a bit too big...) also she doesn’t use much lighting and brightens the colors more than I do

I struggled for so long trying to make this look good and I still made his style look like trash. I’m so sorry dude. I noticed that he doesn’t really use defined shadows and more just overall gradients with darks and lights so I did that. But I still feel like this does his beautiful and unique style absolutely no justice and I’m sorry

Star-Dorks

This is also one that I struggled with. I used a reference of how she draws normal Tom and she doesn’t give him a nose so I just left it out. I couldn’t get the shading or the colors to look right and honestly he just looks like an absolute dork (hehe)

Her style is just... so so soft and comforting. This was fun as hell to draw and actually soothed me. I love the children’s-storybook feel of how she colors and I tried to capture that, but there’s no real way in ibispaint to replicate the textures she uses...

What can I say? Their style is simple and cute and easy and makes every character you draw it in look like a friendly squishy lil dork

Her style is semi-lineless so I guess this was another sort of experiment, and a fun one at that. I really love how she does the proportions and anatomy all flowy and free so I tried not to worry about getting everything exactly right

Maxnip

Her style is very cute and chibi and I think Tom looks a bit weird in it. He’s not supposed to be cute dammit!! But it was really unavoidable since everything she draws is just small and round and adorable

She draws almost solely traditionally so I wasn’t sure how to translate how she does linework or coloring. But she has a chibi-ish style with very big eyes, round heads, and mostly soft edges, so yay! More cutesy Tom!
