Description
Its odd-what memories hold us together,
attached to the ends of my conscience,
and tying us to one another.
So strange-
how we are able to detach ourselves
and still feel, from miles apart,
our fears ringing as loud as church bells.
How weird-
the feeling of your fingertips,
pressed softly against my breastplate
when so far out of range are your lips.
And stranger still-
how you come back from the dead
only when my eyes close at night
and wash away my living dread.

Have you likened your lover to the day and you the night? The sun, and the moon? Endlessly you chase the day's light meeting evidence of their presence only with the rising and setting of the sun. You mark the dramatic rays that play upon the horizon and in these moments, in the waking hours of the morning ere you wake, and at night before you slip into your slumber, you find yourself vulnerable, for these moments are the closest you come to being together. The night is dark, and it is blank, and as the night you walk through the days numb, in the cold rain that clouds the sun's brilliance. Somewhere the sun is happy...

I do that ^-^ I was all ready to write a critique for someone the other day and never did, but I guess you can't miss what you never knew about.

In short I can relate to the speaker. The tone is significantly different than what I would expect for the material... it's ponderous, and yet the reflective attitude seems to lend it something. It has a quality to it I can't quite describe. I would say that the poem itself is strange, or slightly sarcastic, but I know both are unfitting descriptions. Of course that just means you pulled it off. Well written my friend.
