Description
Every day goes by as though it were yesterday, the needs and temptations just standing in the way.
Each man standing there alone,
watching the world on his own.
We should try to understand what it means and do what we may.
We are helpless, our minds so thrown.
Yet we ignore the present, that which makes us sane,
and instead worry about tomorrow.
So we watch the past fade behind us, taking no notice of what it meant.
It all disappeared: the memories, loves, and days that were spent.
What do we, the rich and famous, care?
When have we, the dreaded faithless, dared
to keep a promise to those whom we do not repent
-those left with nothing but a deadly scare
-those with no more kisses to send
-and those who themselves have dared.
The gravitational pull of greed shoves us forward,
the selfishness of the wealthy driving us onward.
We've no choice but to adhere,
though we've no path to follow there.
On our own, with no choices to make, and with Karma as our steward,
we regret the paths we have chosen, and which have left us here.
We begin to remember those left behind, whose lives we have skewered.
Yet, time is relentless/ unmerciful, and leaves us with no hearts to bare.
It leaves us in the future, confused and lost,
And trapped on a timeline we know not.
The people and culture so unfamiliar.
We are so lost and motionless, standing here.
Reduced to nothing and left to rot,
we can now do nothing but stare,
and try to learn from the lessons which we are taught.
We never do remember what it was like to care.
We struggle to move one, trying and failing
to remind ourselves that not all is dying.
Yet around us the depression creeps, tying us down.
Yet there in front of us are all the faces, each wearing a frown.
Around us the world moves on, birds in the air flying,
yet here we stay with the memories of the past wearing us down.
They torture our minds, creeping from the corners of sanity, crying.
We've done wrong by them, deprived them of life, like a king from his crown.
