This is so helpful, ducky textures are some of the best. Thanks so much.

Thanks. I allways tought, what to do with it. Talis actualy is a rare given name in my country and so it sounds fun.

Thanks so much for this! I love the Talis fractals from FE and I'm sure these could be awesome, too! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

I DO love this tutorial. I applied it to make this fractal in the Winter Challenge of UF-Artists: [link]

I just found this.
I'm using UF now but two years ago I made Talis fractals in Fractal Explorer. It was very much guess work once you knew where to look.
I couldn't explain how to do it.
I've used other people's params for Duckies in UF and I hope this tutorial will allow me to make my own.
Thank you.

Thanks for this, very helpful. I've wondered how people made these.

~misterxz 's name really should be mentioned here (Elias Rain, as credited in the description of the formula "Rain's Ducky"). I was one of those who had a part in the distribution of his private formula (with his permission), so I feel partly responsible that he gets the proper credit.
otherwise, really useful tutorial, and I wasn't aware of the said formulas, so thanks for the heads-up

Thanks Danny... I have been on to Toby about Talis in UF... biggest problem we have though is lack of Cabs2. I have payd a lot with in in UF but will be nice to explore this slightly more FE approach... whenever I have windows running gain that is. I got rid on Windows 7 for good about 10 days ago after a horror story and am running OS x 10.6.4 om my PC for now... Much better! Might install a VM and have a look ducky in there.
Have to thank Ed for the link to this post - just caught it on the mailing list!

Maybe you can also try Virtualbox ([link] )
How is the 'Cabs2' in FE different from the cabs in UF ?

Not really sure but it produces very different results (even in Fe..and among different versions FE).According to Tobythis is why it's virtually impossible to get UF to reproduce some of the FE style Talis Trees (take my own Bedouin Mile for example done with 2.03b) Not sure how it would look in FE 2.02 but I have had a lot of discussions with Ed and Toby about the possibility of this kinf of render in UF. I know Titia had the full source code for FE and others have played with it but I have not seen this style of Talis in UF so far...
I am not really sure of the difference between Cabs and Cabs 2 - you would need to ask the mathematicians like Ed and Toby that. I can only say that in FE they produce very different results depending on what you use.
I assumed since basically its mathematics and both apps were built in Delphi that it should be easy enough to transpose the colourings and formulae of FE to UF...but apparently this is not the case...
Thanks for the link to Virtual box btw.. I will definitely look into it. I hav e tended to stick with VMWare previously but even it can be heavy. From now on I want very minimal Windows anything on any of my PCs... Too many years of too many bad experiences I'm afraid... a total horror story! Pure pleasure to be able to run OS X on one now though... A few years ago I would never have thought it possible...

That's nice to hear.
I'll add a collections of links to the images made with it, when times permits

You are probably not the only one who was curious about this style images.
It always surprises me when I see how much different styles and techniques are openly shared for apophysis, compared to how little you can find for UF.
