I own 4 cats. 1 of which is about 6 years old and is half feral. Another is fat and lazy, she's about 4. Another is adopted off our family friend and is about 2. Finally, the one that is legally mine, is a normal (slightly shy) cat aout 3. (Yet a LOAD smaller than the rest.) Problem is... All of them except from the feral one (who is just about always out on a day) are black... so I don't see them in the dark... :S

Yeah, the only way I know a cat is there is by if it's meowing at me. (In the dark, that is) Chances of stepping on them is doubled.
My cats love the outside aswell, but they tend to be scared of most things... sometimes even birds. xD

yeah escaped from their little pen and climbed up one of my mum's book cases and at that time we didn't close off our ceiling so they squirmed through and just hid there
