Here are some doodles from a while back when I was still obsessed with Treasure Planet. These are my OC's that I made up.....Don't laugh at me! You know you do it too!
Anyway, I was looking through my sketchbook and thought that I should upload them. Why? Because I am bored....oh well.
The girls name is Kelly and she and Jim don't get along very well, as you can tell from the sketch up there.
She is an aspiring special ops. agent and kicks Jim's ass all the time she she gets mad at him. The Lizard man is Frank, Jim's roommate and friend at the Academy. He is a 7 foot, giant lizard that looks an awful lot like Godzilla and is a huge klutz. Isn't he cute!? ^///^
And the tentacle-haired lady's name is Estella, both Jim and Kelly's friend, she is very patient when the two of them fight. She is kind hearted and tough. With knuckles like metal gauntlets, you would be confidant too!

I would like you to know that I read your entire argument with FoxFirePheonix and Delfin-a and I would like to tell you that even though the character with spiky hair has spiky hair she is still in the same stile of the other characters on the page. Look at how the face and body is drawn and how the detail is drawn into the hair. It is the same style. ALso, even though the tentacle character is from a concept of someone else that does not make it that other character. FFP created both of these characters. I understand that you are putting fourth your opinion but FFP was right, you were saying it rudely. And to say that Disney fan fiction is supposed to be in Disney style is bogus. Fan fiction is just that. It's when a fan takes a character or story they like and turn it into something else while still keeping the original concept. There is nothing that says that a fan fic has to be in the same style. If that was so there would be virtually no fan fics and also there would be no cosplayers. I hope I did not come off as an ass hole but I just felt like I needed to put in my two cents.

I'm sure if she had her own style she would've drawn them in it. The girls hair is what doesn't fit in. Disney. Treasure Planet style doesn't have that much detail in it. Despite the fact her face and body are close to it her hair makes her look like she doesn't belong.
How am I rude for leaving a simple comment? It's how I saw it. It's not my fault the artist is not good at conveying things properly in her drawings. I could really careless what the fic is about. The girl doesn't fit into the pic and the tentacle girls design was originally a concept for Amelia. That's all I said. FFP is the one that blew this way out of proportion with her unnecessary attitude towards my comment.

I dunno, I still think it fits better than you think but that's just me. I know Disney doesn't have a lot of detail in the hair but neither does she. It's a lot of spikes around the outline but not too many on the inside. (If that even makes sense... lol) I can see where you are coming from though.
It seemed rude at first because it did seem like you were telling her to change it. I know when people tell me to change something I get upset. I don't know what it was but I felt like you were telling her to change it which is strange.
But again, I do understand where you are coming from I just don't see it.

She wasn't being a jerk. She's just telling you what she sees and she's right - your character isn't very good. Sad when an artist can't take criticism. If you don't want people to tell you, you're doing it wrong then don't post of a public site, duh!

First, I would like to ask you, what did you think you would gain by replying like that?
No artist likes it when someone tells them that their art or characters suck. They prefer it when they are told NICELY what they need improvement on not just that they suck and then be told that they can't take criticism. We prefer polite suggestions.
Now, if you don't like my art, good for you. But I don't need you commenting things that aren't going to help me. I don't give a rat's ass that you don't like my sketch and I am not going to change her just to make you happy.

Oh are you one of those people? That think comments and views equals talent. Hate to break it to you but they don't. I came across this while looking through one of my favorite fandoms and lookie hear, one of my favorite artists commented on it!
Also, nobody ever gets better when they're a pampered by "OMG SO GOOD!!" comments. She told you what to look out for. She never insulted you and neither did I. Saying your character is not very good is putting it nicely

The girl doesn't fit in with the rest of the style. Her hair is too detailed. The TP drawing style is kind of simple. Her hair is anime-esque when the rest of her is disney. Just saying.

Well, isn't she supposed to be a Disney character? Shouldn't you at least try to make her look Disney-like. You don't have to change your style for everything you do. I never said that. When I do Disney OC's I draw them in the Disney style - not my own.

Disney OC's can be in any style one wants. They don't have to look like a Disney character. For example, a Harry Potter OC doesn't have to be a photograph.

And original character implies that you came up with their design ON YOUR OWN. All you really did was give Amelia's concept a name. Now, say your tentacle girl is blue in stead of green, then she's an oc.

yes, a TP fic. and that design wasnt used in the movie so it's fair gain. there was nothing but an apperance so the rest of the characteristics of that "race" were up to the fans
