This is the Tragopogon – or ’goat’s beard’ that is going to seed behind our house. Grandma always used to pick these and spray them with colored spray paint, and keep them in vases.

Beautiful, while reading the comments I found out that the 'goats beard' is a large flowering plant, at first I thought it was a dandy lion. I love the beads of water on it. It looks like a fractal, so yeah it does look like a miniature Universe, I too love the Beatles. I think Lennon died before his time.

Wow, this is beautiful!! I love the angle, I love the dew drops, and the subtle, earthy/ocean colors. Your grandma sounds awesome! I want to try doing that. But I don't know if I have this plant nearby. I guess I could spray paint other plants, too...ahh, the Beatles. Love them! Hey Jude is one of my favorites.

Thank you!! She was smitten with these. Most people consider them weeds, but when they 'tuft' out, they are about the size of a baseball, maybe even a bit bigger. The spray paint would keep the tufts together, and look pretty to boot.
