She knows there's just no point arguing with him to keep him around, better to let him cool off. He'll cool off quicker this way.

Foxhatart In reply to The-Dream-Dojo [2019-04-19 11:49:13 +0000 UTC]
I did, it's the same deviation from when it was uploaded. I just update them occasionally
If you click edit on a piece and scroll to the bottom, there's a little tickbox that says "notify your watchers" so when you click done, it goes into people's notifications again

That's what I originally thought but I just don't see anything different from the first time you posted it. If I may ask, what was the update to this?

Nothing, I didn't actually edit the picture or description. I just update the pictures for new watchers.

Just kids? Has this guy never seen Goonies, Monster Squd, E.T., It, Lilo and Stitch, Peter Pan, Spider-Man: Homecoming, RWBY, any Land Before Time movie, or Never Ending Story? There are SO many stories where kids end up saving the day!

It does have a more fun adventure tone after that section though. Page 6 is just the end of the preview pages.

There's a Bambi or Batman joke there somewhere...
I kind'a figured that was the case. I was wondering where the rest of the story was where the two would grow up to be visualintees, fight an alien, and then stop once they all realized their mothers had the exact same name.

Part 1 and 2 are finished, to read the full thing you need to buy a physical copy though. I can link you to the etsy listing if you'd like?

Hmmm.... I'll get back to you on that.
Sure, go ahead.
So wait, you're self-published?

Foxhatart In reply to ClarktoonCrossing [2018-08-23 16:04:27 +0000 UTC]
Yay! You can find the listing for part 1 by itself here: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/273610…
and the bundle for 1 and 2 here: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/502108…
There is another bundle that includes prints and stickers but I won't bombard you with links i have just one copy left of part 1 from the original print run at the moment which is why there's only 1 available of each.
I am indeed! I print them myself and sell them online and at comic conventions

Cool, I'll have to check it out.
Here's hoping you can get more copies soon.
You print them yourself? How does that work?

Foxhatart In reply to ClarktoonCrossing [2018-08-23 17:12:52 +0000 UTC]
Thank you so much for checking it out
I've currently got a second edition print run on the way
There are printers out there that you can go direct to, I use one called Comic Creatives UK. I just email/ring them asking for a quote, pick how many I want then send the files. I get a PDF and physical print proof before the full run is done Going direct is much cheaper as you don't have to pay a middle man, downside is I don't get a barcode or ISBN number and my print run is limited by how much I can afford, which also ups the price of the comic sadly.

ClarktoonCrossing In reply to Foxhatart [2018-08-25 17:33:27 +0000 UTC]
You're welcome!
Oh good. How many books do you usually get printed for a single run?
Huh... I wonder if that's how it works here in the States..
So they don't come with a barcode, but if you do it jacks up the price of the book? How the heck does that work?

Foxhatart In reply to ClarktoonCrossing [2018-08-25 19:17:13 +0000 UTC]
For part 1 and 2 I got 75 but for part 3 I'm going to have to order more to keep the unit cost down.
Oh I go direct to the printers, they are just printers. You send them files they print it, that's it.
To get a barcode and ISBN number I would need to go to the company that sell them and have to pay over £100 to get just one. That's a cost that would be split over all the books, making it too expensive to be worth it. If you're publisher you can pay over £100 to get 11 of them, because as you're publishing lots of books you will use all those barcodes and ordering larger print runs, so the cost to add to each book is smaller.
For myself and my little print runs, it's not worth paying a large amount of money for 1 code, having to up the price of my comic, just so I could have the comic in shops and gain a tiny bit of money from the library system.
If I were to print the comic through a self publishing company, I would get a barcode and ISBN number but I'm also paying a middle man so it's a more expensive route, with little in the way of benefits as I'd still have to sell the comics off my own back.

Funny enough, you've been more helpful than an author I knew who hired me to Illustrate her book, and SHE self-published too.

Foxhatart In reply to ClarktoonCrossing [2018-08-31 23:03:00 +0000 UTC]
Ahh I'm sorry to hear that she wasn't very helpful Sometimes it's like that though, I work with a self publishing company, illustrating some of the books they get in and the guy there doesn't really have a clue about artwork. Particularly digital work so even on books I'm not working on, I have to come and fix things or give advice and he's been in the industry years which is weird.

I wish that had been my problem. This nice lady asked me to illustrate her books, which were gifts for her son, and around the second book was when we started having creative differences. I'd rather deal with technical issues.

Oh could you not agree on what the pictures should look like?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ClarktoonCrossing In reply to Foxhatart [2018-09-01 17:16:37 +0000 UTC]
Bingo. The book was meant for younger audiences, and I had drawn a picture where the two main characters (a star and a bear) were dressed as Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. The bear was reading over a rough draft of the Deceleration of Independence and would point out to the star: It's 'liberty', not 'liBEARty'. I'm known for bad puns. So I sent that to her, and we had a huge argument over whether or not that should've been included in the book. To this day, she never gave me much of a reason as to why. And that's just one of many pictures we had argued over.

Foxhatart In reply to ClarktoonCrossing [2018-09-01 18:39:53 +0000 UTC]
Ahh I see, I can see why it had a difficult time. It's a difficult thing to do as really you can only give advice to authors but you can't make them take it. As they say, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. When it's their book it's their choice as to what goes in it, whether it's for the best or not.

ClarktoonCrossing In reply to Foxhatart [2018-09-01 19:09:07 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, well, she stopped selling the book, so I guess arguing over that pic was pointless anyway.
