I really like the way, how you drew her! Especially her mane colors. They suit perfectly together and I also like it, how you did the lights (well the sunshine on the right side of the picture).

I always envy animators managing to put so much detail with suck simple design, it's something that I struggle a lot to do smooth design with gradients like that. Mind giving me a few tips on that with my work?

yeah it's something that I can more or less do it but mines tend to be way too strong.

For gradients I just use the blend tool in manga studio, which does a really good job. If you use SAI my friend hoz-boz was able to find settings to mimic the brush, if you use photoshop I'm not sure what would be the equivalent. If you mean about my shadows and highlights though, I use a multiply layer for my shadows at about 30% opacity. I use a darker version of the original colour and then alter the hue by -15 (using a slightly different hue keeps the colours look bright rather than a black. Highlights are a lighter version of the colour on an add glow layer with around 60% opacity. These are blended in using the blending tool again. You can always use the gradient tool as well if that helps?
For simplifying designs, you just need to think about what information is truly important to get across this pose/scene/idea. If you think that emoticons like this : ) are able to show a happy emotion all by itself, without even the use of a circle for a head, the eyes and mouth are the most important bits of information for that idea. Russians even just tend to use ) so you could argue the mouth is all you need. If you'd like I can use one of your pictures to help explain further?

Thanks, I would love to see you thoughts on how to improve my art, sorry for the delay in my reply, I was very busy with other important commissions. for the tips I also use Multiply and Screen mode for my soft blushes but I am now starting to use Linear Burn at 20-30% and Color Dodge Add instead which I find bring more interesting results. I am trying out simplified designs at the moment actually I hope it will being in more interesting results.

I find it's easier to understand what people are talking about if they apply it to a piece I did so I thought his might help you see where you could simplify things. I hope you don't mind 
I can see what you are trying to do as it's quite a complicated piece, as not only is she sat down, but also the pony is wrinkling her dress with his movements. Try only including folds that are important though, such as just a couple round the pony and ones coming over her knees.I've given it a go myself though it's not perfect, it might help: Screenshot 2018-08-27 20.12.49

not problem, and yes, you are right in saying that I could have simplified the folds on Celestia's skirt, at the time I was still struggling with the textured bush until I had a better handle of the hard texture brushes. I do appreciate the advices you have given me and I do take it to heart.
