Well, rather, when I said "it may be" I meant on a lore by lore basis. In some lores, magic is just hand-wavy stuff that works without explanation. In others, it is clear that "magic" does have a scientific underpinning, it's just not fully understood yet. Helix's universe is clearly the latter.
