Think about it: life of immortal being might be really painful, when you see how your friends die again and again over years. I wonder how many students Celestia had before Twilight...Speed drawing, that was a necessary practice. Gosh, I must use coloured pencils more often...

Yeah, the life of an immortal can be harsh at times, but after a while they tend to get used to it some more, why do you think her expression almost never changes? At least thats what I think.

I can think of several reasons why immortality would be your worst nightmare
think about your perception of time speeding up, the unavoidable decay of the brain when it reaches memory capacity, the testing done on you once scientists figure out you're immortal...
what if you get stuck in a well or something? You'd be there forever! Not to mention as time passes on endlessly, you'll eventually be there when the sun envelopes the entire planet, and the universe collapses into the entropic waves it began as and spreads irreversibly into the void, never to form new matter again, and there you are, floating, alone.
but hell, I don't know about ponies...

Yet though immortality sucks... Celestia stays calm, friendly, and she continues to show support and love towards her subjects. Even if they are always bowing to her and worry about pleasing her, or in the case of the stuffy ponies at the Gala she doesn't show how utterly bored she is.

And that's why I like her. Although I wanted to depict her in some other way than "stay calm Celestia, everyone is watching you, you can't show them how hard it is"
