My Little Pony FiM is like internet memes + ponies.
I can tell that without even watching the show.
Hell, I rarely watch TV.

While the original MLP series were awful, FiM is actually very awesome, and believe me, you can't fully appreciate it nor judge it, if you haven't watched it.
And as for memes, well, I dare you to show me a popular series that didn't get meme'fied later, hell, even Castlevania has a meme of it's own.
At least there's no yaoi crack based on FiM, since most of the fans are guys not shitty fangirls >D

The fact of most of the fandom of a show aimed for girls being males already scares me, though that seems to often happen with some animes, but with MLP sounds more unusual to me for some reason. Maybe I'm not used to ponies.
And what scares me is that some of the fans use the strangest lines I've ever seen, like randomly saying "I'm going to love and tolerate the shit out of you" to everyone, that's creepy.

Like I said, the first 3 MLP gens, yes, they were awful, and they were pretty much aimed at children who only needed some pretty colors...
But FiM is indeed different. It was not aimed at only girls, sine Lauren Faust's goal was to aim the show at a larger audience, she wanted to make something that the parents could watch with their children, and actually have fun watching it (as opposed to almost each and every other such show...). It actually has well developed and deep characters who have both many good sides as well as multiple flaws. Hehe, first of all, all the main character have their own psychotic breakdown at some point during the series, hehe, hardly anything you would expect of a show "for girls", eh
And the "I'm going to love and tolerate the shit out of you" is pretty much the moral of the whole story. The series is about friendship, but not in the same way as other shows (ya now, something like "OMG, best friends forevah, lets cuddle, OMG, pretty colors"...), it actually does a good job at advancing the story and delivering the moral in a credible way.
And then again, you might view it as scary. But since so many people like it/love it, and since most people will be able to explain why they like it without squealing and going all fanboy, I think it does mean that the show does have something to it, at least something more than just "internet memes + ponies" >3
And do note that all this comes from a mentally unstable fighting game maniac who draws the darkest stuff using tribals. I say this does mean that the show isn't "bad".
And I'm not saying you have to love it/like it or anything, I would just appreciate if would cease to criticise and judge it without actually seeing the show.
