This is a cake I decorated back in April for my cousin's son, Jack. He wanted a Sponge Bob cake. (I know the date doesn't match up on the picture. My cousin's wife can't seem to program the clock in her camera.)The flavor is German Chocolate cake with a Butter Cream frosting.
Just so you know. You aren't seeing things. That is a 3D cake. The nose, eyes, teeth, and details to the shirt all stand out. It's the first time I've done a 3D cake like this.
I know the picture quality kind of sucks. I forgot my camera so my cousin's wife took the picture. It was months later that I actually got the pictures.
That's the birthday boy holding the cake on the left. I cut him out, because his smile was horrible. You know how some kids can't fake smile. Looks more like they are just showing you their teeth. That's how his smile was.
This week is the newborn Ben's first birthday. They have requested Elmo this time.
In case my newer fans are curious about why I'm decorating cakes. My cousin's eldest daughter has a deadly peanut allergy. So that can't go to normal bakeries. On her birthday a few years back they had to scrap her cake.
I felt so bad for her that I agreed to bake and decorate all their cakes for them. I'm pretty new to this whole decorating thing.

Just think about carving out of clay. Instead of adding clay to mold away you have cake.

I think the Rocky and Bullwinkle line was "and now for something that you'll really enjoy" or something like that, after Bullwinkle pulls the lions head out of his hat and says "must've grabbed the wrong hat".

I always enjoyed Monty Python. I saw the play Spamalot live. It was awesome. They were selling killer rabbit stuffed dolls and slippers. Only scene they cut was Castle Anthrax.

No. The nose and eyes are carved cake. Frosting wouldn't stand up on it's own like that.

I had to get a special color gel to get the right color icing. The lady told me that color was dubbed Sponge Bob Yell. It's not the official name, but just a popularized nickname.
