the writers are valuing the message above characterization and Logic. Discord is so evil and cruel that he cannot be forgiven.

Discord is the god of chaos, not evil. And chaos is a relative term. Rush hour in New York would be overwhelmingly chaotic for me, but for those used to it it's nothing. He's simply viewed as evil for breaking the norm.
