N64 Zelda is best Zelda (possibly with the exception of Link's awakening).
I love the idea and the last panel is absolutely fantastic.
The filter you used in the first panel works very well for the background (and in the subsequent ones, the attention to detail on the lights is also very well done). However, the filter/nighttime recolour on Twi and The Great and Powerful Trixie doesn't work quite so well. Twi blends in a little too much and her pink stripes stand out more than the rest of her. Both of their irises have ended up rather dark too.
I guess you'd know a bit about matrix filters given your digital graphics experience, I've got the settings for a filter based on pony nighttime scenes if you ever want it. Though in this case it wouldn't have matched your BG colours.
Aside from that little thing, excellent as usual

Agreeeeeeed. Oot and Majora's Mask are definitely my favorite Zelda's, ever. Well, wait, Wind Waker was awesome... and all of the other ones as well... O.o
I really should've approached the recolour on Twi and Trixie the same way I did with the other background vectors. Definitely disappointed in myself in that respect. >_>
I'll definitely take a link for nighttime scenes. I don't know how often I'll use it, but it'll be a good thing to reference. Thanks, DD!

OK, this contains two Nighttime matrix filters for Inkscape [link]
Select Filter Editor from the Filter menu select all the objects that you want to filter and check the relevant box. To use it in your own file, you can simply copy a filtered object from this file to yours and the filter will also be copied. Or you can manually input the same matrix values.
This [link] explains what the filters actually do better than I could, if you're interested/don't already know. Simply, you can transform each RGB pixel in the original image mathematically based on its original value.
Hope that's of interest, any questions feel free to ask and I'll do my best (though I suspect you'll already know more than me )

Ah perfect! I wasn't even aware that Inkscape had a filter/matrix function. My digital art experience was not within this program.
Thanks again for the link, I'll be sure to check it out when I get home! ^-^

I meant that I suspected you might be familiar with this sort of filter (just desperately trying to avoid sounding patronising or similar )

I've just seen you did the BG recolours manually
I've promised various people a nighttime filter/tutorial(ish thing). I really need to get on with it... How did you do the character recolours then?
Despite the fact that Zelda never seems to change much, the games are still very enjoyable

Foxy-Noxy In reply to DaringDashie [2012-12-06 00:14:38 +0000 UTC]
Agreed. ^-^
the character recolours were just me being lazy and messing with the brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, and vibrancy. I don't know why I was having such a difficult time landing a similar result with the colour. I just didn't want to reopen Inkscape. LAZINESS! D:

DaringDashie In reply to Foxy-Noxy [2012-12-06 21:30:16 +0000 UTC]
Twilight is dissapoint
The only reason I discovered how to work some of the filters in Inkscape was cause I felt that manual recolouring would be too much effort! So a sort of reverse laziness, spending more time finding an alternative route to a goal than the original idea would've taken...

Foxy-Noxy In reply to DaringDashie [2012-12-07 02:08:15 +0000 UTC]
It was a pain to manually adjust the entire things. I do like the end result of the vectors, and I feel that the amount of work I put into recolouring them is a hat-tip toward the original vector artists. Or something. Lol.

three years? if Twilight isn't capable of single-hoofedly moving the moon by then, the quest for the fierce deity mask should not be much of a problem. Also, Luna would be pretty ***** pissed if Trixie moved the moon like that.
