I think it's because this is season 3. And it is generally accepted that one season is a year. But back in the old days one season was 60 episodes. Unlike now were a season is only 13 to 20 episodes.

Let's see....most of the non-transforming masks would be the same, maybe a name change or two. Assuming that Twilight is the replacement for Link, we'd have a Pegasus Mask instead of a Deku Mask, an Earth Pony Mask instead of a Goron Mask, and a Seapony Mask instead of a Zora Mask.
