Made in Apophysis7x-15D, Photofiltre7, and Artweaver (all free programs)
This dev is 3 flames overlayed, the original was from the start of the Spherical Plants tutorial by C-91 which turned out to be a great start for space scenes as well as flowers:

if you just do the starting part of the tutorial you will get a similar "nebulae" or "cloud" effect, this was my first .png layer then adding a black background.

The second flame was this one (I used my .png render on the 2nd layer):

I used either "Saturation" or "Luminosity" on the second flame layer, I forget which one, probably Luminosity.

The third layer is a 3 transform flame (2 linears, 1 noise) using the same gradient, adjusted in Apomap for a white spot to get white stars. What I did was set the color speed on t3 (linear=0/noise=0.005 for my stars) to -1 and the color setting to 0.500, then in Apomap I selected range 127-128 (0-255 is the RGB range, so 127-128 is the middle, in Apo 0.500 would be the middle of the gradient) in the gradient and changed the brightness all the way to the right to get a pure white for my stars. Hope that made sense but that's one way of getting a star effect in apo itself without an external program. If you don't have the patience for that (you probably wouldn't be an apo user ) you could use the Universe standalone program from here www.diardsoftware.com/
I prefer my way as I can render as .png and put the stars on any layer I want or more than one besides trying to push apo to its limit, I haven't found it yet
