Description
Download for 1280x960 resolutionStill playing with the Compass formula (z - > z^d – da^(d-1) z + b, the a-plane plotted and “b” fixed to zero). The exponent “d” is this time put to 2i (0 + 2i). This is another example of the weird forms and mystical phenomena that non rational exponents give rice to
The motive is drawn using the formula “Extended Compasses” for Ultra Fractal. For more info of this formula, see my journal Fractal Compasses [link] .

I know that just about everyone else to comment has said that this looks like a map, so I'll say this much: I've been working on a fantasy setting that's the basis of my first (likewise still WIP) novel. I don't really understand any of the mathematics/formulas/whatnot behind the making of this fractal, but this work, when viewed as both a map and a clock, is so accurate to the way that my setting functions that it's /eerie/.

Fractals reminds of nothing and, at the same time, everything
That's one of the things that make fractals so fascinating
You may use it if you feel for it if you link back to the original
It's a very special and fascinating formula that has created this, and a lot of other quite different motives
There is a reference my journal Fractal Compasses under Artist's Comments under this deviation. You maybe already been there
Thank you for your comment

You may be right. This is a little bit unusual motive. Yet there are minibrots However the channels tends to disappear with increasing escape radius

Very intriguing! I haven't been using Ultra Fractal as much lately, but when I get back to it, I will have to experiment with the "Extended Compasses" formula and spend hours upon hours examining some "natural" fractals!

You are one of very few how really appreciate the full potentiality of this formula You can spend hours of just playing with the exponent, leaving the parameter "b" fixed to zero (that parameter was not there in the first compass formula). In article [link] you can read the history of its origin. With parameter "b" added, besides gliding along along its axis', you can perform double perpendicular rotations as described in articles [link] . Examples are,

Yeah isn't it In fact this is a big out-zoom from the default. It also seems that the channels diminishes and the range of the whole fractal increases if you increase the bailout

~I do, but beautiful doesn't fit. More like impressive & thort-provoking - I'm playing with that color balance a lot lately & it grabbed me on that & then saw the detail & meaning in Full size.
Brilliant works fr me.

As you might remember, I did get the trial, but the Oz $ was down at the time & cost of buying it far too much. But $AUS is now rising & nearly 85c to the $US & I'll buy it if it goes past 90c.
So, yeah, I tried UF & decided it's amazing for sure & loving OP results I'm seeing pop thru the wabbithole, like this. I'm gathering flames & tuts & will launch mslf into it next year. But meanwhile I'm just starting to think I'm OK on Apo & have gone back to that full-on.
Haven't cloned mslf yet either & that's the only way I'll be able to handle the ambitions that infest me dig-art-wise.
Meanwhile I look at yr works & drool & do the wow-thing dance around pc in reverence. Fan-taz-tik stuff! Ain't we lucky to be given these magic tools!
Cheers!
