A larger render? I know they take a long time depending on the comp...
I often feel that in Apo I want to get more detail and the way to do it is to zoom and then it takes forever even with my upgraded system.
Have you tried the new Apo version. I just downloaded it and am going to install in a few minutes. Even the last version made it way easier to get qualitty images.

I have another computer here at home. I've had requests to make a few of my fractals larger so I'll probably set it up to do that, then I won't have to worry about how long it takes.
