Long overdue fanart of a sadly overlooked current cartoon. Everyone go out there right now and watch Dan Vs. or feel the impotent wrath of a barking malcontent!Related content

Seriously, though. What is your deal? I'm trying to understand what goes on in the mind of someone who takes it upon themselves to be the emotional guidance counselor of cartoon characters on the internet. I'm not sure if I should be highly amused or highly afraid. Or both.

Why would you be afraid? So I guide cartoon characters emotions on the internet,it's good for them, besides,I'm doing them a favor,I'm guiding them to be better people.

Because I fear you're under the impression that cartoon characters are real people. Besides that, you seem to lack any comprehension of the fact that conflict is the spine of any good story, not to mention we like most cartoon characters because of how flawed they are.

Aw, thanks. In general, I try imitating the styles of the shows I'm drawing from as best I can while also incorporating my own feel into it.

I REALLY should purchase season one on DVD, just so I can have Dan Vs. The Wolfman for the rest of my life (or until the DVD stops working, whichever comes first).

Heather and I picked it up the second we saw it. I just hope they put the next seasons on DVD as well.

If season 2 does get released on DVD, I'll have Dan Vs. The Dinosaur for the rest of eternity (or until the DVD stops working, whichever comes first).
'Cause if you repeat a joke, it's funnier the second time around.

Rule of Three: It's funniest the third time.
And I haven't seen that one yet. We're just starting season 2. I'm looking forward to Dan vs. Anger Management.

I've seen Dan vs. and it sort of good. But never my tastes sadly. But the cartoon that I hate the most is Adventure Time.
The art-style's so unappealing to me. The writing is not that interesting neither. I do not get what's so "Nostalgic" about it. The only shows I love is... well... ponies lol; and Regular Show. The reason why, is that it reminds me of those Comedy Central/MTV late night-esque cartoons that no parent wouldn't want their kiddies to watch! (Exe: Beavis and Butthead; which might as well be the true inspiration of Regular show lol)
But as for Disney, Phineas and Ferb is the same. Do not get what's so great about it. Gravity Falls is just whatever to me. I'm not trying to be picky as much as I'm trying to be. Fanboy and Chum Chum on Nickelodean was decent. People hated it. But it's actually not that bad of a show to be completely honest.
There's an upcoming cartoon in Disney XD called Wonder Over Yonder. [link] created by Craig Mccracken and produced by the late and great Lauren Faust. Yes, as a brony, I have to use the word late a reason; as she doesn't work in the show anymore. XD In long story short, I'm totally looking forward to this cartoon!

I haven't had the chance to see a lot of the newer cartoons since I don't have cable, but I agree with you about Adventure Time. I liked the pilot because it was obviously done as a parody of bad cartoons, but the show seems to have become what it was spoofing. Regular Show is okay, in my opinion. I've chuckled at it a few times, but I don't see why people go so crazy for it.
And Fanboy and Chum Chum was decent? DECENT? That show was frigging hilarious! I just wish they'd put the later seasons on Netflix so I could watch them! I've only seen the first season so far, but I love it!

Dan Vs., the only show giving it straight, showing the kids what being an adult really is.

I like to think Dan Vs. does a better job of showing kids what NOT to let themselves grow up to be. *laughs*

I kinda don't like that show... MLP, yes, but this just seems kinda aimed at bratty middle-school boys from what I've seen. No offense.

FractiousLemon In reply to FireballDragon [2013-02-16 03:31:23 +0000 UTC]
Fully understandable. It's pretty much schadenfreude humor and nothing else. I'm always surprised (and thrilled) at the fact that they air it among their other kids' shows when its obviously intended more as an adult program.

I remember when I first saw "Dan Vs. The Barber" which featured a scene where a character got stabbed through the chest with a pair of scissors (It was an accident and the scene was shown in silhouette, but it still happened). I was completely shocked and yet I still laughed at it.

FractiousLemon In reply to JoeyWaggoner [2013-02-16 04:01:12 +0000 UTC]
Precisely. It's the kind of stuff that used to be in cartoons all the time and yet you never see anywhere except but on the Hub now. I don't know how they get away with all the stuff they do, but I'm just glad they do it.

What about 4kids TMNT or Chaotic? I seem to recall things like death being brought up several times in Chaotic and TMNT, which is ironic considering how 4kids handles anime. I mean they even used the word "underworld" in Yugioh 5d's but still censored all the death...

Eh. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a concept I thought was awesome as a kid, but I now find asinine. I'm kind of embarrassed I ever liked it.

mattwo In reply to FractiousLemon [2013-02-16 05:28:04 +0000 UTC]
It's far superior to the 80s cartoon and stays truer to the comics.

FractiousLemon In reply to mattwo [2013-02-16 15:41:01 +0000 UTC]
I dunno. Again, the entire premise seems stupid to me unless you have fun with it. To this day, I actually like the episodes of the older cartoon that just decided "Screw it. The show's stupid. Let's have the characters point it out." Heck, I actually own three issues of the older comic that were a joke three-part storyline that did nothing but make fun of how ridiculous a concept it was.
I guess I'd be more interested in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles if the series was more like the Tick, Freakazoid, or Earthworm Jim. A silly superhero series that just flat out admits it's silly and doesn't care.

mattwo In reply to FractiousLemon [2013-02-16 21:32:57 +0000 UTC]
Meh, you'd probably pefer the nick version then, it seems to mix the feel of the 80s and 4kids ones rather well while keeping more of the 80s version's premise. You'll know what I mean when you hear the krangs talking.
Yes. The krangs. [link] couldn't find any clips where they had speaking roles but I just noticed a familiar sounding squee sound effect...
Though I really think you should give both a chance at the least.
