The painting above is made in water colors and sepia colored calligraphy ink. The latter was not optimal to make outlines with, thereof the smudginess of said outlines.Β
She is editing a picture of herself, but that is hardly obvious from the picture.
This painting is the latest I have made in a series of images of people with obesity in various contexts and situations. I did not
personally intend them to be pornographic or sexually suggestive, although that is in the eye of the beholder. The pictures try to portray mechanisms both in society at large and within families, surrounding addictions, codependency, enabling, body ideals and so on. The fact that obesity is the topic is mostly because it is easy to visualize (drug addicts or people with generally bad self esteem might not necessarily look different from the rest of the population), and probably because it is very interesting for me to draw people with this body type.Β I see overweight as a symptom of a lot of other things that are wrong in Western society today and thereby a grateful subject to work with.Β
The picture tries to portray how the immaturities, insecurities and self destructive behaviors of parents burden their children, thereof the girls presence. Β Β

While I am not trying to start a fight with you, for the sake of prudence you did say he was just as bad as the person he criticized. That could be interpreted in at least two ways 1) His argumentation and overall reasoning is generally below all criticism, (that I would agree with) or 2) That we are both jerks who makes improper generalizations on large groups of people.
