a picture of my gorgeous friend Jhaesayte taken last night at the Fetish Masquerade.. we were both rather drunk, so it isn't the greatest sample of photography, but i really like it anyway.
she is leaning up against the bathroom mirror.

lovely powerful shot.. especially the colors.. im glad i saw this, normally the DD's are crap so i dont even bother, they dont even cath my eye but this did as soon as it came on screen, i left whatever it was i was doing before to come and see this.. heh..
ive always loved geisha's. the whole lifestyle facinates and intrigues me, and normally to quiet and pleasing.. it always makes you woder what really goes in behind the scenes, inside of THEM.. they are people..human, delicate and fragile its easily forgotten when posing as an oject day in and day out..
though i know this isnt a real geisha, and i know this wasnt your intention for the photo, it makes a lot of sense.. the strong colors are really nice, and feel good to me.. though i tihnk you could have cropped some of the right side of the image off, for balance's sake makes it feel a tad off.. and might have made this a litle bit more mysterious having the red corner flower done away with and losing the obvious feel of the mirror.
either way its a gorgeous shot, even if you were drunk.. ;] one last question, was this a planned shot? or was your friend not feeling so good and you thought, "hmm photo op!" ? congrats on the DD, without i may not have discovered it..

yeah, pretty much!
i did try cropping the image to make it feel more balanced, but it looked rather weird so i left it like this. i guess it did take away from effect of the mirror and made it look more like a photo that had just been copied and mirrored... i dunno, it just felt off

Truth to tell, I had been feeling really sick from drinking and was just leaning on the mirror for a breather, and she was sitting on the sink counter beside me. She told me not to move, and I was too drunk and dazed to even try it. She just started snapping away.

But then, I get a little melodramatic when I drink. The outfit and makeup took a little practice, but when I saw this shot I thought it was SO worth it!

Has anyone else noticed that if you squint and use your imagination it really does look like a rottweiler with tusks and huge blazing red eyes.

i never noticed that until you mentioned it.. but if i squint my eyes i can kinda see it..

Beautiful! I love how from far away, there is this trick my eyes play that makes me think I am looking at this scary, grinning monster face! Kind of plays with the whole concept of it, don't you think?

I think this is a really lovely shot! just wondering though....if symetry was what you were aiming for composition wise, i would of croped it more on the right hand side.....but then u may not be able to tell shes leaning up agaisnt a mirror and it may lose something else......awesome photo though very nice colours

I like it a lot! I don't know if you've ever read the book Memoirs of a Geisha, but in a way, this picture portrays how the girl, Sayuri, feels at times. Very nice shot!
