Pen and ink. Original dimensions: 10X18This is a piece about personal growth, how it can sometimes overrun you and box you in. It's good when new things (feelings, ideas, concepts) sprout, but sometimes they can take over, and grow out of control.
It really didn't scan well, a lot of the fainter stuff didn't come through like the clouds and the texture in the grass. It doesn't really look quite like this. Sorry!

I really like this one. It's very well drawn.
I know what you mean about scanners and their tendency to leave out details.
Considering that you say it happened here, that makes it even more impressive.

you might have heard of the opera 'orpheus in the underworld' well that is based on the story

Awesome inks! Beautiful pose for the figure--very elegant the way her arm are reaching up and turning into branches. Great use of contrast thoughout. I absolutely LOVE that you took the time to create that woven-vine border around the piece--it's very sharp and classy. Great work (as usual).

it depends. this particular piece probaly took 12 to 14 hours or so, all those little branches. what a headache! most of the others are more like anywhere between 6 and 10 hours.

oh wow.... I don't have that much patience usually.
i only took that much time on an oil painting, and that was because i required part of it to dry. lol
