Description
This is an expirement in color, a la Warhol. Just trying to understand color and shadows a bit better. This is my first attempt at this color blocking, graphic style. I think I might play with it some more, it was challenging. This is my first time using prisma color pens. Not sure how much I like them, they tend to bleed and I had difficulty getting consistency in color. So, if I try this again it will probably be with my good old prisma pencils.

Art markers and pens take some work that and the paper you use is very important to prevent bleeding. For markers I use either brista board or a very heavy weight paper made for inks. Normal sketch paper just doesn't hold the color in place. With that said this is a fine study of color. The drawing is very good, but the one thing that I love above all else is the breaking of the border with her hair--you could do even more with that.
Keep at it, I want to see more!

and another wonderful piece. Very warhol indeed. Oh and the prisma colors take time getting used to. But the multiple tips and edges are fun.

thanks, jacob! i guess i'll try to play around with the pens more. do you think i should get a heavier weight paper? i just had so much trouble with them bleeding. i'd appreciate any tips you might have. i'd like to get more use out of them, they were expensive!

Yeah those prismacolors are expensive. I like to use either a bainbridge board or a bristol board. Something extremely smooth and hard. Regular drawing paper tends to be more absorbent if you know what i mean.

i like the colors on the third one best. as far as the pens go, i agree that they're hard to work with. but then again, i have a hard time coloring with anything other than pencils.

thank you.
i don't know if i will work with the pens again, but maybe if i use a heavier weight paper, it would work better. they just bleed so much, they were hard to control.
ps. how many times are you going to change your avatar? by the time i get used to seeing one, you change it!
