Awesome, awesome shading. And just in pencil! This would be cool even if I didn't know the subject matter.
Love the clouds and the birds (for some reason it says sunset to me even though it's in greyscale...) and I can totally see Elazul sitting there being angsty until someone throws a rock at his head to snap him out of it.

Very nice composition that uses space well. The fact that the entire background is recessed in the distance adds to the feeling of seperation.
