Alrighty, this is a great way to fix "high school" pencil work for photoshop fun. Just finished your great masterpiece, but hate the monocrome nature? Here's a fun way to make any pencil work look like colored pencil!

1 - Make a picture! Okay, theres a lot to this step, but it's not what we're focusing on. Here's a sample for today(NOT MINE!) [link]

2 - Pick a color darker than the area you want to shade. Go to Brush>Overlay at 100% opacity and brush in the area with either a fuzzy or sharp edge brush.

3 - With a color lighter than the area you want to shade, Go to Brush>Normal at 10% opacity and brush with a fuzzy edge brush. This is to fix that white area that isn't covered by overlay. If necessary, go over the white areas again.

Tada! Be sure to do this on a copied layer, in case you don't like the color. Remember that you cannot erase the color in this method, so always work on a copy.
