Description
Just a random idea for a fanfic that will never be written. The image was so strong I couldn't help drawing it. So... Flintheart Glomgold finds a way to travel (far, far) back into the past where he meets nine-year-old Scrooge (isn't he cute?I used this picture from this webpage as a reference for little Scrooge (I hope I didn't spoil it

I don't know why everyone assumes that just because Scrooge is nine (and tied up) that he's completely helpless.
Let's not forget how bad-ass some of his family members are... even at the age of nine. If Donald, Huey, Dewey and Louie are ANYTHING like their Uncle Scrooge (or if he's anything like THEM), you can BET that Flinty would have his work cut out for him just trying to keep Scrooge in that chair! Never mind trying to stop him from building a huge, corporate empire.

I choose to believe that Flintheart is a Scottish-born immigrant to South Africa. He grew up there, and thus identifies himself as a Boer.
And Flinty had better watch out for Fergus. Boxer though he may be, Glomgold is no match for an angry McDuck.

It's gonna be like what happened to Magica when she travelled back in time. Perhaps Flinty could travel to the day he abandoned Scrooge in Africa to change the past so Scrooge wouldn't survive the experience.

Flintheart would kill Scrooge off, if he got a chance like this. BUT. He was saved by Scrooge from a rather likely death(tied to the back of a water buffalo). Heck, in the comic they even referred to it as saving his life.
Thus, by killing Scrooge back in time, Flintheart would by extension cause his own death.
The picture is awesome, btw!

You know, I've never thought about it like that... But on the other hand, Flintheart may not like the fact that he owes Scrooge his life, and that can make him even more agressive. OR he could forget that ^^ I mean, forget about the link: if he kills Scrooge, he won't have a competitor in the future, yes. But he may also not have a future. So when he realizes this, he lets little Scrooge escape What do you think? ))
Sorry about the late comment

Wow...very interesting concept...very interesting. Scrooge is defenseless against Glomgold if he's 9 years old, man. Poor Little Scrooge is in big trouble.

aww so cute
Glomgold is Carl Barks creation and probably better stick with his story. Ducktales were great but doesnt have much to do with the comic characters. I missed donald in ducktales

Yes, I also appreciate those few episodes where Donald appears It's funnier when he's in them )) I also would like to see Scrooge's sisters or at least to hear him mentioning them... just once..

Afrikaaner, South African...works either way. Though his Scottish version wasn't bad; I'm just a purist at times.
And you're very welcome!

This picture is great!
Young Scrooge is cute, indeed. How could Flintheart try to harm such a cute little fellow? I bet, at the end of the story, Flintheart let him go because of sympathy. And because he reminds him of his own poor childhood, before he became evil. Something like that! ^^
Your idea reminds me a bit of Don Rosa's 'Of Ducks and Dimes and Destinies', only in this story it was Magica, who wanted to steal the Lucky Dime from ten year old Scrooge McDuck. But that doesn't matter, since similar plots aren't that rare in the Duck-Universe. ^^
___
P.S.: I prefer Barks' Flintheart far above the DuckTales' one.

Oh, oh! And how did that story end? The one about Magica, I mean?

Flintheart In reply to frakir-chan [2007-02-22 16:29:45 +0000 UTC]
Magica realizes that if she steels that dime from Uncle Scrooge before he earns it, it won't be his Lucky Dime and thus useless. Thus she had to give it back to him, before she goes back to the future. (She traveled through time due to a magic candle, meaning she can only be there for a fixed time)

Thanks ^^ Yes, I also thought about this )) I don't think that Flintheart is so cruel, he just tries to act like one But after a moment of triumph he will realize that he doesn't know what to do with his captive. He won't be able to harm a child, so he won't have anything else to do but to let him go. Or maybe give him a chance to escape
I've seen a few pages of Don Rosa's story, and maybe unconsiously came up with the similar idea But Magica doesn't suit my story, because there is no point for her to deal with Scrooge BEFORE he earns his first Dime, ne? ^^
And why don't you like DuckTales' Glomgold? Is it his appearance or something about his character?

Flintheart In reply to frakir-chan [2007-02-22 16:53:05 +0000 UTC]
I mainly don't like the DuckTales–Glomgold, because I don't really like DuckTales. There are a few good Episodes, I admit that (I really liked the 2-partier 'The Golden Goose'), but most often the lack of good animation, the far to soft characterized Uncle Scrooge and the annoying additional characters like Webby, Doofus or Bubba and Gizmoduck in later Episodes ruin the fun for me. And the bad animation doesn't help, too. And DuckTales could have been so much fun, if they have kept Donald in it.
But the DuckTales–Glomgold isn't innocent, either. He looks way to old with that long beard, the bald head and his humpy posture. He changed heritage and homeland and appearance and character – they could have just used John D. Rockerduck…
Wow, that must have seamed like one big rant! I assure you, I'm usually not that grumpy!

Oh no! It is always interesting to know other person's opinion ^^
I myself like DT (mostly because of Scrooge I must admit ) but that doesn't mean that everyone else should like the series
Although I do wish they included more comics characters in the show. Like Grandma Duck, for example, or many others, rather than to create new ones who don't even have a past...
