Season represented: Summer
What an incredible scene this was. A distant supercell updraft, lightning, and the sun setting through the rain. I think my favorite part of this image is actually the area near the vault (that light area to the right of the updraft). Just below that and to the right, you can see some really faint inflow streamers. Pretty crazy stuff! Eastern Colorado has the perfect terrain for chasing, just absolutely flat so you can see for miles. Really makes it tough to give this storm scale, but I'd say it was still nearly 10 miles away. We were pretty far away, but with a view like this, I could care less. It did produce a couple tornadoes earlier in the evening, but we arrived a bit too late to see those. Still an incredible evening with probably the craziest storm I've ever seen
Please tell me what you think!

This is one of the most beautiful photos of a supercell I've seen! And this one seems like a perfect example! Even has a little wall cloud, there! Excellent, excellent shot with the lightning and sunset in there!
Was this a low-precip supercell? (I'm working on being able to visually identify the types.)

Thank you very much!
Though I'm not an expert by any means, I believe this wasn't an LP storm, but instead a storm with a rain-free base

Huh. Amazing how such a powerful storm can produce so little (or no) rainfall. Crazy.

In this case, all the rainfall is off to the right side of the storm (partially blocking our the sun)

What an amazing shot! Red sun in the distance, the lightnings and all those clouds, forming in weird shapes.
Love this.

That's just epic! A bit too much noise perhaps, but that really doesn't matter since the scene itself is so bloody amazing

Thanks! Yeah, I under-exposed the image, so the noise is more noticeable

Indeed, it's a massive, striated, corkscrewing updraft

Thanks! That was just luck. There was quite a bit of it, so if you fired off a few shots, you were bound to get some
