Small hands, meaning small or better say thin fingers ? That's no problem, since I've started boxing my fingers got nice big round, so if you have an energy problem with all those nice photograps taking with a big photo equipment, there is no better way to gain some musular mass 
Hey this reminds me, I am thinking of buying a pocket PS camera, just to have with me all the time, if you know anyone who could reccomend some models to me, I would much appreciate it!

Pretty much anything in the Canon PowerShot series is great. I love my PowerShot A790. Also look into the newer SD1300 and SD1400 models

lol Amazing what can cure a fear. I'm not scared of bigger arachnids since I started (and mostly failed because they're difficult to get to stay still) trying to photograph scorpions and tarantulas so I understand how that kind of happens.
