Description July 15th, 2015
near Red Cloud, Nebraska

You don't want to know how many hours of effort went into stitching this panorama 6 vertical images (14mm on a full-frame) with plenty of overlap but a complete pain to get things to line up. If things did line up right, the program would leave a warped curvy horizon. Or it would get everything really close, but somehow miss getting the horizon stitch to line up. Ended up opening the images in Hugin, warping them, saving them individually, stitching those in Photoshop, then re-warping the panorama to bring the horizon into line again. All in all a lot of work, but it had to be done! This was one of the more unique stages of this cell, where you can see it really trying to wrap back up into itself. Things only got better from here, can't wait to share more!

This was a different storm than those That corridor seems to be producing a lot of storms this year though! Wouldn't trade living in a place with storms for the world.

I think you did an awesome job at sticking up this picture. Looks very awesome and reminds me of a time when I used to live in the mid-west.

da fuq????

Having seen these pop up frequently, this just looks really odd being so isolated from the rest the sky. Β Really great timing/catch, kudos to you.

Isolated storms for the win! This storm was on the southern end of things, so there weren't any other clouds around to interfere with its inflow. Thanks for the comment

Very nice capture, this almost looks like something from a science fiction movie. I'd love to have seen it in person. MikeZ.
