DigiXros just seems to be rebranding the same old "Fusion Dance!" mechanic used since the first movie. Come on Toei, you can't come up with something more original?

Actually there're a few key differences:
For one, a Jogress/DNA is very difficult to pull off, and it needs both the hearts of two digimon and the hearts of their two partners to be in perfect sync and have full understanding of each other. Xros, on the other hand, can be performed with seemingly any digimon, as long as both parties are at least willing.
Also, Jogress/DNA is a mixing of the data of the multiple digimon, combining that data into one entity, and then using that data to extrapolate an evolvution, so you get a digimon that has character of the two yet is a single entity - sort of like a DBZ fusion dance. Xros, on the other hand, takes one digimon and puts more digimon on top of it, like a combining mecha.
TLGR: One is an evolution, the other isn't.
