Description
This is a tool I created to help me create costumes for my characters maybe some of you will find it useful. The best way to enjoy this tool is to use Manga Studio EX 4, sorry doesn't work with Debut version because it use Symmetry rulers that are only available in EX. I also include the PSD version but it lacks of the fun tools that Manga Studio provides.
This is pretty simple to use, activate the symmetry ruler for Front, Back or Left/right then make sure that the button for the symmetry ruler at the top of the window is enabled. Then select the layer you wish to draw on then be creative!!
If you create something with this, please show me, send a note.
---
You can import the template to your User materials so it will always be available when you need it.
Voilà

Have fun
Here is a sample made with the female version of the tool:

You are giving me a challenge, I never drew a child or elderly person. Do you know the proportions? How many heads tall? I'll have to study. It will take a little longer for me to created them.
Thanks a lot for the llama and the points!!

I've drawn children, but I've never drawn Elderly. The Elderly tend to be shorter because they shrink, and children are just very oddly proportioned. Their heads and eyes are big. I haven't studied them very ofter either, and I really should!

Fav'd this earlier, didn't know this was a Manga Studio file ( sweet!! )
I thought I'd chime in on your child discussion. Adolescents are 3-4 heads, tweens 5 heads, and teens 6-7. At least they are to me. The key to drawing children is the eyes and heads. Our eyes are the same size when we're born to when we're adults, so I tend to keep the heads on both children and adults around the same.
Just everything south of the head has different proportions.

Thanks for your inputs, it will be useful.
I just checked a Loomis' book and this is what he have to tell about child proportions [link] .I don't really like that, it's very good for realism but for manga I'm not sure. The proportions you gave me seems right. I'll take the opportunity to study that.
I took a look at your work. I like your manga pages, very nice effects.

I was going to mention Loomis, but I feel the same way. However it gives you an idea where to start. One thing I try to do is just keep the head nearly the same size as an adults. Some people draw children with smaller heads and eyes and it's freaky looking.
I've sort of adapted a general head rule depending on age. 5-10 years old 3-4 heads. 10-14 years old 4-5 heads. 15-18 5-7 heads. It's really up to the artist which is why drawing is so much fun.
Thanks for comments though, I'd say you should upload stuff, but I rarely update DA myself. lol

Thanks.
I'd like to upload more but my old stuff, is well, unfinished, sketchy, childish or just plain ugly. I just begun to create some better stuff. Before last year drawing was just an hobby but when I saw the ImagineFX magazine It just clicked in my head. Damn, that's it, I want to do that for a living.
I've for a long time wanted to create a manga but never really put the effort. But now with Manga Studio it's a lot easier, so I'm studying that. And maybe participating to the M.I.C.C [link] , don't know if you know that. If you win (and frankly with the work that won last year, it won't be too difficult) your work will be printed in the Morning magazine in Japan.
Well, with what's happening there right now I wonder if it won't be canceled this year.

I heard of that and I'll raise you a Illustrated Section [link]
I'm the same way. Most of what I do is sketches and I rarely put finished work. 2 years ago I decided to clamp down and really do something with my art. Then this last winter Dani Jones wanted amateurs, semi-pro, and pros to sell their own comic books in PDF format with realistic profits.
Illustrated Section only takes 20% as opposed to Amazon's 30-40% and the App Stores 40%. I've been at odds at what to do for a few months, so I'm biting the bullet on one idea. Will it go anywhere? I can't say. But with the latest trends in tablets and smart phones I think Publishers are feeling the heat. I'd rather test out the waters cutting out the middle man.
It's funny what a recession does to a guy. lol

That is a really good idea and thanks for sharing. I took a look at the site and I'll probably give it a try once I got something done.
A job doesn't provides security anymore. So I guess, creating our own business is a better idea in a long run. And if I have to stare at a computer screen all day long I rather do it to create something I like.

Exactly. Dani is alright and submissions are easy.
I plan to make 24 page comics and sell them for $0.99. Probably the best part is these are made for tablets so anything goes as far as specs and such. It's worth checking out.
I wanted to do this last year, but the Kindle is really for ebooks and Dani speaks her frustration with Apple's store. In theory anyone could make their own online store like that, but as a community it's got a better shot for exposure.
All it will cost you is time, so it's not a bad risk. lol
