I love fantasy maps that are incomplete. The rest of the world feels so mysterious. Good job, dude

This is an interesting map and it's also well done.Β  I wish I had more information about this entire place and the areas like Larkos the Bridge Town.Β  If you ever map Larkos please uploaded to this site.Β  As for the lake in the middle of the Ever Dry that has been criticized by so many all I have to say is "have any of you ever heard of underground water currents" this lake could easily be explained if there is an underground current feeding it.Β  I like this map, it's well done, and you actually did an awesome job on it. Keep it up, please and thanks for sharing.Β Β

Hi there. I love this map. Are you open for this to be used in a real time strategy indie game?

Thanks.
This map is used for my world.
But I'm open for commissions if you need a map.
Please read my FAQ for more information.

Hi , thanks for responding! We are not at the stage where we can really pay for a comission, perhaps later down the line.

Coast line makes me wonder if there was sudden global water rise... lack of ice cap seems to support it. But then Great Plains look bit too green, especially if we assume Ever Dry really being this dry... bu then sudden lake with no water flowing into, and no plants nearby... might be salt lake, yet keeps me wondering... yep, I support on climate thing, but hey, everything can be explained with MAGIC.
(actually I'm commenting just because i love maps)

This is remarkably cool and all, but I can't help but burst bubbles.Β  I mean, I'm lookin' at the world, and thinking to myself:Β  Is that how the land would really look?Β  We're talking water currents, air currents, and the like.Β  There's so much stuff in the center that I'm wondering if it shouldn't actually be very very dry there.Β  You've also got a pinched swamp that seriously lacks for rivers.Β  That'd more be a desert valley, methinks.Β  Given the set-up, the land west of the Ever-Dry should probably be a river-clogged rainforest/swamp, as rain clouds would travel across it, get stuck on the mountains, and deposit their water on the peaks and over the land.

I know this is probably irrationally mean-spirited, but I spent quite a while wondering why the most verdant forest on Middle-Earth was behind a gigantic mountain chain.Β  Fantasy worlds can be better-designed so that they don't fall apart as soon as the gods take a hike.Β  I seriously want to see better thought-out worlds from you and other people.

What you want to see and what the creator wants to make are two different things. It's his world. If he wants to place ice caps near a lava pit, no one really has the right to tell him it's wrong. He can do whatever he likes with it. If you want to see a world how you see fit why not create one with those features yourself.

Trust me, I'm trying.Β  But I'm not a cartographer, and I've not studied meteorology.

I think it's unfair criticism based on the fact the world clearly extends beyond what is seen in the image, and most of your critique seems to be based around the assumption that we are looking at the World Map, including both a northern and southern hemisphere, and with an equator that should be as arid or tropical as the Earth's equator. When, in fact, there's little scale nor positioning of this map. The Ever Dry could easily be the equivalent of the north of Africa with the two continents above it being the equivalent of only the south of Europe - for all the scale we have.Β

Well, swamps with those characteristics trend to be, at least, subtropical. And they are relatively close to the frozen north. A frozen north that could very well been like Canada rather than Europe (because of warm currents on the latest) even if they resemble the scandinavian fjords or peninsula.
The everdry shouldn't be as arid as north africa, either. It has really big oceans and a complex coastline, which could help to produce evaporation and precipitations that could be carried quite inside. We can see a rather big lake in the middle of the desert with no rivers coming from or to the mass of water, how could that be formed if not?
