And here's another character fan poster I did on Batman Forever, and this time, is for Robin Williams as The Riddler. When the Batchlers bring in The Riddler, they deciding that he's Bruce Wayne's enemy. They made him as this guy who works for Wayne Enterprises and he was a fan of Bruce Wayne, and the word fans came from the word fanatic, because someone who's a fan of novelists like Stephen King, Dean Koonz, John Grisham, and Stephanie Meyer, film stars like Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger, television stars like Nina Dobrev, Candace Accola, Kat Graham, Hilarie Burton, Sophia Bush, Bethany Joy Lenz, and Jamie Lynn-Sigler, and rock bands like Siouxsie & The Banshees, U2, The Cure, and INXS, you knew that you worship them. And when Bruce rejects, Riddler comically becomes Bruce's nemesis, like to outsell him by using businessmen tools, and sending him riddles.

In the first two drafts written by the Batchlers, they gave Riddler the name of Lyle Heckendorf, not Edward Nygma (Akiva Goldsman later uses the Edward Nygma name in the subsequent drafts). His company was not NygmaTech. His name was Lyle Heckendorf. The Batchlers came up with a scene that was not in the final film where Lyle tests The Box on his former landlady. And Joel, who starts out as a costume designer because costumes matter to him, came up with a scene that's also not in the final film where Lyle stalks Bruce Wayne and Chase Meridian at the circus, where they're about to see The Graysons die. And in order to get closer to Bruce, Lyle stole clothes from a fortune telling leprechaun, which form the basis of the Riddler outfit, and he has magenta hair.

Joel Schumacher asked Robin Williams for the role, with the Batchlers writing it with his comedic delivery, and Robin talked to Akiva about The Riddler in his kitchen. Robin read the script for Batman Forever and he loved it. Due to a salary dispute, the role went to Jim Carrey.
