that has to be the laziest attempt at a background ever...ugh let's not talk about it ;3;
anywhos...Willy got a job as a postman...and with his lacking sence of direction all the letters got delivered too late XD
the post office then realized they were better of giving him a deskjob XD
hopefully he will find his way before christmas ^^
on another note...i kind of like how he looks with his hair/branches tied up...i have a soft spot with ponytails especially on male characters <3
so yeah...have some postman Willow shanenigans

i have a silly idea to draw Willow being decorated like a christmas tree by a buch of characters and i really wanna draw this XD
i know a Wipping Willow is not even close to a christmas tree but i thought it would be funny decoratiog a deku scrub...anyone else finds it funny/cute please someone agree with me ;3;
so...ummm..is there anyone who would not mind theyr character being used for such a silly koncept? p3p

Well it sound like someone is not as organized as the usual postman ^^'. Oh well as long as he find his way one day or another.
I just love all the expression you gave him! Going from being all happy and proud, and suddenly to the final revelation. Poor guy, it must be really frustrating.
As for your idea... It must be the silliest one ever made... But I like it lol! To be honest I don't really know how it would work but I'm really curious to see what kind of think you can do with it so... //Push a tied up Zora to you because he would run away from it otherwise. Have fun with him!

it's nice to hear those expressions came out well! Willow's face is not the easiest target for emotions but it came out well i think
it was tricky tho sicne the comic part on the bottom is really small (seriously i drew it, like 2 cm in height...i dunno why i did it so tiny orz//shots)

Well someone with a real bad send of orientation would be unable to read a map so I fear it would only frustrate him even more... Oh well, we should at least try.
Well considering their mouth, Deku Scrubs are from the beginning not a good target for emotions, so considering Willow... Yeah it's the worst. But you still did great! And that's a good question... Maybe to show his despair even more I don't know ^^".

yeah it is tricky, doing expressions on a face that lacks some feature
i mean i like doing that, messing around with faces on characters who have their eyes covered or something (i have on character whos only feature that could show emotions are his eyebrows XD) but that dosen't change the fact that it is hard
i think i wouldn't have that much problem with Will in particular if his eyes didn't have this tired look all the time...i think
i dunno something about Willows eyes makes it hard to apply emotions, wich is fitting with his personality and was intantional all along but...yeah it's just hard orz

You sure like to complicate your life with characters expressions right ^^"? Deku Scrub, someone you can only see the eyebrows, that sure sound like complicated. But it also sound like good and interesting challenges to learn how work each features.
Really? Yeah a tired look is more tricky than a normal one, but it really look like you just have to put a line under to like show he has bags and that's all. That would explain why I was unable to do the same for Sora while he was supposed to have a tired look.

when it comes to tired faces...yeah i find eyebags to be the easiest way to get that look. Another feature would be half closed eyes (both features that Willow has)
i might have a good example on my own face hehe...no seriously, eyebag game so strong...i basically look like a racoon most of the time with my dark circles around the eyes XDD

Hey I didn't blame you about anything. I know you have fun about what you did, and honestly I can feel it because your pictures are just so great, and they wouldn't be if you didn't have your fun!
Yeah I did though of the half closed eyes, especially since it's what used Uren when she first draw Sora under my instructions, but I found myself unable to do it, each time it looked bad. So I gave up on it (for now?)
And now I admit I'm curious to see it lol. But I do remember of your "like dislike picture when you draw yourself. They were kind of strongs ^^'. But why do you have them if I can ask? You don't sleep enough?

it might be kind of tricky at first, i remember having a lot of trouble with facial features...but the thing that made me kind of realize how to do tired eyes was Soul Eater of all things! i learned the half-closed look by, kind of mimiking the style of that anime! so yeah a good reference helps a lot i guess!

but it's not only that, it's part the fact i'm a god damn nightowl and can't sleep like a proper human beeing, and part genetics...my dad has the same thing going on, when we get tired we get racoon circles around the eyes XD

Well I don't know for Willow, but for Sora, I guess his relationship with Tamara will tell. I wouldn't be surprised if she kidnap him multiple time if she became protective over her little fishy.

Hum... Yeah you're right. Soul Eater have multiple characters like this, but Death the Kid would already be a good base for tired looking chaacters I think. I should try one day. Most of the time I try to imitate style from people I like on DA, but a stable style would be a good thing.
Oh yeah. I kind of have this problem too, I can't sleep before midnight, and yet me and my parents tried to make me sleep better a lot of time ^^'. The human being can really be weird sometimes right? But even so, you cannot try to sleep more during the morning to compensate?

yeah finding a good reference is a huge step towards establishing your own style! some people call it cheating but i honestly think it's kind of crusial! either real life or just other artists might help a lot in terms of anatomy, character creation or stylazing...so i say go all about it! if used correctly referencing others can really influance your own unique style...like a mentioned before Soul Eater was a big inspiration for me and my style kind of evolved from that...

well i could sleep during the day, i have to get up early in the morning for collage (sometimes when i get rally tired i fall asleep during the classes xD it's quite embarrasing sometimes but most of my professors dosent seem to mind XD one even said if im really tired i can sleep during his class as long as i turn my assighments on time lol... my sleeping is well known amongst the school xD) and go back in the noon hours so if i fall asleep then i'm not tired at night, stayup late and then am a zombie in the morning...and the cicle cuntiunes XD
so either way i'm a zombie at some point of the day XD

Really? What cheating? Copying is the basic thing to do in order to look for and find your inspiration which will become your style. I didn't though I would hear something so stupid. We all unconsciously copy someone we admit or wish to look like. So yeah, no surprise you would take from Soul Eater if that element was what you were looking for.
Your sleeping schedule seems to give you a harsh life. You should think to tell your teachers about it from the very beginning. Your were lucky that this one was really comprehensive (but to be honest, I think most don't care in college as long as you don't bother the class). But yeah now I can imagine how things are going on. It's really weird though. You were always like this or it's since more or less recently?
Just I hope you don't mind talking about this even though it's kind of private ^^".

well good to hear that you agree! i literally got into arguments with people online who were convinced that using reference is cheting and that the artist should learn their craft on theyr own without having to use those. i find it stupid too, and immature in a way. there is nothing wrong in finding inspiration in others! it is a way of gaining experiance!
besides only relying on your own judgement and experiance will most likely lead you to not noticing your own mistakes (which happen to me a lot in middleschool before i found out the miracle of anatomy references!) so it is not only helpful but can be crusial in understanding certain flaws of your own works!

well i had problems with sleeping for more than 5 years now... i think it started around highschool and by that time i just got used to it
people around seemed to get used to it too...it is most likely stress related and i even got medication for it at some point...didn't help much, it wore off quickly

Well I couldn't disagree considering it's what I have been doing since I start drawing again ^^". I first try to copy Uren-arionn style since she is the one who taught me to draw since I meet her in July and then I went to find my own references. And when you look at them, even outside of all questions of quality, our works doesn't look like each other I think.
And yeah, working all alone cannot lead to anything good. You need an opinion from the outside, someone that will tell you what is good or not. Comments can be used for that (that's why I try to do, justifying why my comments are always way too long lol).
It's okay, I can act whiny too so I don't mind if you do ^^'.
However it does sound like a problem. Not a big one if you got used to it somehow but still... It's really kind of weird of it appeared more or less suddenly without reasons. Sadly enough I can't really tell anything to help, especially if you tell me that no medications were able to help. Just try maybe to sleep as much as you can by night and do nap on the afternoon (especially at school. Best place for napping lol)

like i said before i cannot see my own flaws so i find that way of thinking stupid! that was one of the reasons i joinde DA tbh, to seek for commentary co i can improve! so all comments make me super happy all the time...but to be honest only lately i have been recieving some more constructive ones...i do hate one word comments just saying "great!" "cool" or something like that. Tho i appreciate it every time (i almost always respond even with a single "thank you!" no matter how short the comment might be! well there might be some exceptions but very few!) it brings me nothing! i like comments that at least tell me that they like in particular! so i am more than happy to acchieve such comments from you! as you can propably tell by my responces i do ejnoy breaking out conversations in comments a lot ^^
im horrible at breaking the ice so if i comment im usually not sure what i should say ;3; i try my best tho...
well i wouldn't say without reason...there was a bunch of events that most likely lead to me going full on insomnia instead of just nightowl, like i said it is mostly stress related.
so i partially brought it upon myself just because i like to stay up late and partially it is stuff that happen and i had no power over...ugh it's complicated and not really important i guess...

Well to be honest outside of the "practice makes better" I don't really see any other ways ^^'.
I sure need some. One day maybe I will think to put on the "critic" option, and with some luck get somes. Good thing I can talk on Skype with the some drawers, they give me hints to grow better! But yeah I don't like one words comments either. I can't say I'm not grateful to the people who made them, that would be lying, but they are sadly not useful at all! Come on I'm a beginner! Give me hints! And if even a drawing godess (And for me you are ^^') like you say it's still useful, it does mean a lot.
And by the way I sure hope you don't mind my comments! I feel like I have been a little exagerating, spamming you everywhere you go...
(And just say whatever you wish to. If some people refuse to accept whatever you have to say, well to bad for them!)
Oh right I see! Slow adaptation which let you to get stuck in those hours! That's really bad! But I guess there must be a way to get it back in some ways. I sure hope you will be able to, it's really annoying!

Critics are only for core members? It's stupid! I didn't know since I actually never tried to use it but it does sound like an important thing!
So yeah, why not we could do that? To be honest it would be more you giving me hints since I'm not really sure of what kind of critics I could give you but I promise I will try! i know right? it baffles me kind of, i think critiques should be avilable to everyone, especially new members since most of people who need and search for improvement are not core (or so i think...i might be wrong but it seems likely) and it feels like the whole thing is just a marketing plug (it truely is)
i mean i get it, DA want's to get some money out of it but it's still a big flaw in my book!
maybe the way i would change it is as follows: requesting critiques on our works should be for everyone, but core members are the ones who can write them, that would make a bit more sense with maybe more experienced artists with core membership (i know not all of them are but im giving an example) could give their outlook on the artwork
but to be honest, it dosen't matter what i think, it's still DA's decisions and i'm not the one who can influence anything so...whatever...

I don't really know, I never really pay attention to who is a core or not, but it sure is stupid! What is the next step? Comments only for core? I would nearly not be surprised to be honest. But I do guess that someone who would arrive on DA will not immediately paye for this so... Useless!
And nothing wrong at DA wishing to keep his money, it's logical if we wish to have a free site. However some things should stay free. And your idea is good, but that would still be limitated, I don't have any friends who are core members ^^. But yeah it would still be better!

yeah me neither, most of the core members i knew are either people that i watch and just awe at the sight at their art (senpais if you will XP) or i just dont know them well enough to get any comments from them (there are a bunch of exceptions but again im setting an example so let it slide please...) so...i really do get that the staff wants to get money out of it but some of the ways they do this is just stupid in my opinion.
i personally would never get premium/core membership, heck, i would not even consider it, if not for the critique option...so i guess they got me with their parketing XP still can't affort it tho, and propably never will, but i won;t cry about it...ragular ol' DA mebership is enough for me

Yeah that's the problem. Most of the core members get this status so they can custom their page and stuff. No one seems motivated to get it for it, it's more a bonus than everything. So why they make us paye for it? I sure don't understand.
Because if it was something appealing why not, but we all know that most of the humans don't like critics ^^".
I could more or less afford a core member, but I will never pay or ask for a donation for it. That wouldn't be right for so many reasons. So yeah, I guess I will just go on without the critic option. Especially if you are now here to make them ^^!

During my time in YouTube it was the worst. I was going criticism of video games, I had barely no money or stuff, I was doing what I could, and had fun... Until I understood the few comments I would have are "Hey nice job!" or "You are the worst!". It's after that I stopped, considering it was no use to continu.
And I would not myself, I have so many games, comics and stuff in general to buy! And once again, just by principle, I would not buy this. It's not important or interesting.

well i had a simmilar thing with my previous account here on DA but i guess it was mostly because back then i wasen't the greatest artist in the world...but honestly i see a lot of artists here with less than impressive skills get so much attention (either through groups or some sort of friend circles maybe i dunno honestly and i duncare >.>)
but back then i was getting NO comments at all! like literally none...and seeing someone with skills below mine having like a circle of commenters and stuff was really discouraging to me...
to be honest only pretty recently when i started to get into Pokemon and Zelda that i got some cool watchers that actually want to share opinions on my works so yeah...i kind of know how it feels

You had a previous account on DA? I didn't know about it, but I guess it doesn't exist anymore now. However I admit I would be curious to see what kind of drawing you did back then. It's always interesting to see the whole progression of an artist you like.
And yeah I know this frustration. To be honest, when I started drawing again a few months ago, two things motivated me: to not disappoint Uren-Arionn who took the time to teach me again the basics on Skype, and to make live Sora on FoH. It's only later, when I started to get good equipments and programs on the computer, and start to feel I'm doing good things that I really start to get pleasure.
And yeah I wasn't getting much comment at that time either. Just a few friends I met, but always the same. It's really nice of them but I sure wish a few more people from the group would come ^^".
I totally understand your frustration too, even though I lived it more through my time on YouTube than on DA. I don't say I was that good, but just that I was frustrated that some called reviewer base his videos only on jokes, and not a real review on a game. The kind of people who when you finish the video, you don't feel like you have learn anything. It's really frustrating.
And yeah, I do guess that when you start to work on more known licenses, you get more views and comments ^^. Especially Pokemon which is really searched on DA.

well i did, i changed it because of some e-mail issues (i wasen't able to log in for a while and being a bright fish that i was i decided NOT to get any actual help from any e-mail support and just create another account XD but i don't regret, me previous username was idiotic, haha), but it's long gone now, and to be honest...i wuld propably be really ashamed to show any of the art i did there XD that account was from the time i discorever bases and reference pictures and didn't really know how to use those yet sooooo...well yeah it was bad to say the least ^^''
but, to be honest, i wanted to do the "over the years" meme with my artwork (tho it would be hard now, because a lot of my old digital work was lost when my laptop got stolen two years ago so i would have to rely on what i can find in my old folders and scan it...but i think it would be worth it just for laughs xD) so if you want to see some of my progression and stuff, just wait for that i guess XDD i bet it would be a...hmmm...interesting trip haha XD

Oh I see! Mails issues are really something, especially nowadays. I tried to create a new address recently, and because of all the stupid security stuff they put on, I just couldn't activate my new one! In any case, if you aren't satisfied with you precious username and your old work... Well it's not that bad I guess.
Still I'm curious so if you start to make some "Draw it again" meme, I would not go against it! I like this kind of stuff because you really can see an artist progression! Too bad if you cannot find that much, but the little you can do would already be really nice (and make me depress if I discover you were already drawing better than me at that time but Shhhh. I must not say it!)
To be honest, I think nearly everyone who work in an artistic field (may he be an artist himself or not) suffer from this kind of trouble sadly. Plus, I did noticed that critics aren't that well represented nowadays. Positives one are not that appreciated because people are not interested to read details things about good stuff, and bad ones are so over exaggerated that the thing in questions seems to not have any good stuff. No wonder people don't want to critic anymore in those conditions.
